Subject: Reviews in front page - Paragraph breaks

Just noticed the blogs in the front page, which I believe is a good addition...but
The reviews are presented without paragraphs and gaps... I always write reviews with separate paragraphs because this helps the viewer and does not confuse him or bore him; something that happens when he is forced to read through an article without gaps and paragraphs.
Can we do sth to fix this? I believe that reading the reviews as they were written in advance is much better, rather than throwing in a series of words to save some space.
(In the permanent link, they appear normally, but I would like to see that on the first page too)
Thanks in advance

Yeah, this isn't good, needs fixing. I'm sure most reviewers write with paragraphs and gaps, so it's just a bug.

The line and paragraph breaks do not seem to be displaying correctly for reviews on the front page. However, they do display correctly on the rest of the site. Thanks for your time.

I'll get mailto:M@x - M@x to have a look. Unfortunately, there are no long reviews which would highlight the problem there at the moment.

Bob, I think you can tell that ZowieZiggy, for instance, uses very short sentences in his reviews, and uses a lot of them. It is quite a difference now, isn't it?
Out of interest (though I could check myself), is this problem also visible within an album's review page?

I brought this up previously, just make sure tags are capitalized and they seem to work fine.

I thought this was not a bug, just an effort to save space on the first page...![LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif) my apologies, I should have known better ![Embarrassed](smileys/smiley9.gif)

That's not accurate. I just noticed this when I (it's been weeks) wrote a new review, today, with something like 7 paragraphs now reduced to a single, impossible-to-understand-and-read mess.
Also, the reviews are at the bottom, what makes this website what it is is at the bottom. We have blogs and videos now.
Is this site a blog now??? ![Confused](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif) Do we have to join the MTV generation by having blogs and videos over... written reviews??

I'd prefer reviews at the top and the blogs at the bottom. Also the option to see the latest 100 reviews should be restored. tweak tweak tweak ![Big%20smile](smileys/smiley4.gif)

nice to see the blogs getting a little love... but I think 3 is
overkill considering ..as someone mentioned.. they are started so
infrequently... maybe one.. the most recent. Might be incentive
to others to start others..
and those reviews.. do look crappy... if that is how they are to look... maybe it is best to keep them at the bottom.
Otherwise... clean them up... have legible paragraphs and
put them back on the top. That is the main attraction of the
front page.

Yep. It looks so. But somehow it didn't affect Erik Neuteboom's reviews... ![Confused](smileys/smiley5.gif)

on the new design on review pages - again a lot of paragraphs problems:
sometimes there are paragraphs, some times not. sometimes it seems that only colaborators has the 'right' to paragraph, sometimes also colaborators have no paragraphs.
Please tell us: is there any new 'paragraph policy' here? if so, let us no. I dont think lack of paragraphs is a good idea.

No new policy re the paragraphing, any issues are just bugs.

Some bugs from the new design in album reviews -
(I also report this on another thread, so if its not needed you can remove it from here)
1. still there are problems in table columns - check out 'piper at the gates of dawn' reviews, in 'show all 259 reveiws' section - http://www.progarchives.com/album-reviews.asp?id=1433 - http://www.progarchives.com/album-reviews.asp?id=1433 check for instnace joolz - shelket reviews - i didnt manage to copy it here
http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7439 - 2. still, paragraphs are lost in some reviews (same page)
3. at least the 'null' assingment from yesterday is fixed now (thanks)
4. I see that not all non-collaborators reviews are shown in the main page - i assume its not a bug? only the 'latest' as you say in the header?

Can you try inserting <p> where they should be, and let me know if that work?
Cheers.

I too am still seeing paragraphs that are not breaking. I went back and changed some of my most recent reviews from <p> to <BR><BR> and that works. The lowercase <br><br> does not work. Both <P> and <p> do not work for me.
<p> works on the permalink pages, but not on the front page or the album pages.
My guess is I should change these back to <p> when a fix is made?

I find that using a double return key at the end of the paragraph still works fine.

I've tried to put <p><BR><BR> , but it didnot work in any presentation

Because after the great dispute that my mother had with Mandrakeroot are forced to use the computer Mandrakeroot I noticed that the dingbat " selecting the keyboard does not work.
Since the problem should be general, you can rehabilitate this dingbat?

The tagging has become even more bizarre. My last few reviews have not only shown on the front page unformatted, but the actual tag text, "<BR>" etc. shows up in the review. And this is across the board, front page, perm link and album page. Where it gets really strange is when I simply go to the collabs view to edit and just resubmit, the review shows up perfectly formatted.
In addition, regarding Progaardvarks issue of ineffective <p> tags, I too have switched too the <BR><BR>. The <p> seems to work twice in each review, then stops working. It is my intention to just continue with the double line break as I created an MS-Word template and it isn't really that big a deal for me to use one over the other.

It's been referred to mailto:M@x - M@x Tappy. As you say, editing the review without changes seems to sort things out. Pressing enter twice for a new paragraph also has the desired effect.

What about those of us who can't edit our reviews easily? I've noticed that all of my reviews that had paragraphs (mainly my older ones because I stopped using paragraphs when I started having problems) are no longer are separated into paragraphs, and the <p> symbols have also disappeared from my reviews (they used to show up instead of actual spaces between paragraphs).

Does this work for everybody? last time I tried that (a while ago) that didn't work for me.
Also, just a side thing, quotes ( " ) aren't showing up in my reviews either.

The double return seems to work for everyone ASM. The other comments are jsut interim solutions, the matter is with mailto:M@x - M@x for fixing. I'll mention the " too.
