I was thinking some music websites have on bands pages links to similar bands on their website, I was thinking we could do that here, for example Magma's page would have a link to Univers Zero, Art Zoyd and Eskaton pages on this website. Roxy Music would have a link to Brian Eno(his earlier poppier albums) and Split Enz. Genesis could have Marrillion, Ange, Happy the Man or whatever ELP -Triumverant, Le Orme, Egg etc
This could be a way for people to discover like minided bands etc. on the website. I know that this may be a large undertaking so what I was thinking is that the writers of the band bios could add the links? I mean ofcourse thew links in this website, and it might be a good way to explore more obscure groups etc especially if they are listed in different categorys.

I thought of this myself. It would be much easier to find bands that you are sure to like then. Nice idea!

We're already doing that.
Just look at Porcupine Tree's band page and many others like Van Der Graff Generator, Godspeed You..., Mr. Bungle and many others.
Oh, and BJ : http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=29336 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=29336

Oh good, but I was also thinking not just bandmember projects, but about similar bands eg, ELP and Egg both heavy keyboard dominated

Oh. I see what you mean. I like the idea and I remember there was that sort of thing about two years ago in the archives, but it got deleted. In the band page there was a list of 20 albums that where similar to the band you where looking at. I remember that I discovered alot of bands that way so it's a very helpful tool.
