Hey did anyone else catch the PBS history of Atlantic records and Ahmet Ertugun? It was a pretty interesting show other than the absence of talking about anything prog in Atlantics history. The first half talked about Atlantics early years and the rhythm and blues artists they catered to. The second part of the 60's and 70's was pretty much all about Led Zeppelin and Bette Midler. They did talk with Phil Collins briefly and by his name it said 'signed with Atlantic in 1981' then he went on to tell Ertugen how he brought him a Genesis demo and  something of his solo stuff and basically said Ertugen wasnt interested in Genesis but did sign Collins for his solo albums.

Also no mention of Yes at all which was suprising since Yes made Atlantic ALOT of money Im sure.

But it was interesting showing how instrumental Ertugen was in finding alot of great artists and exposed the world to some unforgetable music.

Yeah Atlantic is one of my favvs.  I hope to have as kick ass a lineup as they did in the late 60s.  Ertgun is awesome.  He also helped get Tom Dowd work which is twice the coolness because Tom Dowd is the man.

I remember my dad showing me that it was on but I was busy writing an essay I should have done four days before...
