Subject: What prog DVD are you watching tonight?
Date Posted: May 04 2007 at 17:49
I reserve Friday and Saturday nights for watching a good prog DVD. I'm making my way through all of the previous seasons of 24 (about 2 discs deep into season 4), but will pop in a DVD and just enjoy.

My question is what DVD are you watching tonight?

Well yesterday I watched Dream Theater's 'Live At Budokan' and my VHS of Genesis 'A History'. Today I may well watch the rest of 'Meet The Flower Kings' and the VHS of ELP's orchestral tour which I find more entertaining and enjoyable than 'Works'.

Well, I watched 4 episodes from season 4 of 24 last night; so, I'll do my prog DVD watchin' tonight. I'm thinking either Porcupine Tree's Arriving Somewhere or the Exit...Stage Left DVD from Rush's Replay x 3.

I've been watching a lot of Marillion lately, but still may watch Bootleg Butlins.

Cyg, why do you like disc 2 so much? I've hardly watched any of the other DVD's from that set, other than the Popular Music section. I should watch it more.

Have you watched the easter eggs from that DVD? Mark Kelly and Ian laughing at each other during the opening sections of "Cover My Eyes" cracks me up.

I like disc 1 a lot more (and Live at Loreley for that, as well), it's just I don't sit through the discs in one sitting anymore. I watch a few songs and go to sleep. The next night I pick up where I left off. I much prefer disc 1, it has some of the best songs in the Marillion catalog.

Sylvan's: Posthumous Silence - The Show.

Top drawer stuff. This dvd was eagerly awaited for some time and I have to say that it was definitely worth waiting for,
The band and their guest musicians have totally nailed the performance. Marcho Gluhmann's singing and stage presence is pure magic!
Well done Sylvan: I can't think of another dvd with so much power and emotion as your Posthumous Silence Clap

^^I've got the CD version of this and eagerly awaiting the DVD to get here. Posthumous Silence is one of my favorite prog discs, so it'll be a treat to visually experience it. Love the CD, though.

Last night I watched the bonus footage from Dream Theater's Live Scenes From New York.

Steve Hackett's "Once Above a Time" would be a great choice.  His version of 'Fly on a Windshield' on that DVD is second to none - he really surpasses himself.  Like a fine wine, the man just gets better with age!

I bought this one a couple of months ago, but this is actually the first time that I am watching it.  It is quite good.  The Symphonic Live is still my favorite though.  I really enjoy watching the symphony on that one. They just seem to be having so much fun playing Yes music.

While you may find this impossible to believe, or at least I might have, this show is actually completely spectacular....don't miss it if you like this group.  They play their entire first album in its entirety along with several covers, including Pink Floyd, the Who, and LZ.

I just got the new 70-75 Genesis box set Thumbs Up I watched the Reissues Interview on all of them up until SEbtP. Since I don't have a dvd player that I can plug headphones into I had to quit there, it seems that nobody wants to hear The Fountain of Salmacis live while they are trying to sleep. Wacko I hope to watch the rest tomorrow but I scared my brother off when I played The Musical Box LOL

I'll probably watch some Star Trek or Young Indy episodes... probably not very prog.

But Yes's Montreux DVD is pretty cool as is Mew's live in Copenhagen. ;-)

I've been watching a Classic Rock magazine DVD called Voices of Rock. It's better than it sounds and includes The Who, Yes, Rush, Procul Harum, The Doors and, bizarrely, Tina Turner.

well, Last night I watched Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Live in Brazil doing a very early version of Pictures at an Exhibition, 1972?.  Really interesting. Bare-bones Stage set-up, no fancy Lighting, like watching them rehearse. The DVD creators mucky-mucked up all the fast-tempo portions with psychadelic overlays that were SOOOOO distracting, but wotta Band.  And they looked so young, wow.
Kudos to Carl Palmer who SAVED the big ending, when Lake came in too early and Palmer just held his sticks up for a beat-n-a-half and then put it all together. Ya gotta see it!  LOL
