Topic: Rankings by Country?

Subject: Rankings by Country?

As we now are able, for our convenience and entertainment, to rank albums by year of release, by sub-genre, and by album type, wouldn't it be a rather easy operation to make a "rank by country" option?

I think many people have a special interest in following their "local" bands (or those from a neighbouring country) and to see which of these make success in the prog community, not least because these are the bands they are most likely to be able to watch in concerts etc.

Sorry if this topic has been discussed and concluded upon before (didn't find it by searching, though).

I definitely applaud the proposal!!! (not so much because of my country which has ZERO albums in the Archives, Cry,) but for informational purposes...Clap

Not a bad idea, but I would put it lower on the list of priorities.

You can search bands by countries:

1.- Search a band from a determined country
2.- Click in the country

And voila, you have all the bands from that nation.

Now you can rank them all.

I'm familiar with how to list all bands by one country, but how can I rank them the way it is now, though? There is no "rank the listed" option...

I had that doubt, but why should someone want to rank a country?

We rank the bands, countries have good, average and terrible bands, people is  interested in how a band play not about the general sound of Pog in a nation.

That's my idea at least.

Well SD, we can't rank any album by countries, but we can search countries - bands and then albums.

It would be a lot of work for mailto:M@X - M@X and honestly, I can't see it as priority, there are more urgent things.

Lets transit the point to mailto:M@X - M@X and see what he says, but remember, bandwith is not infinite.

I was more thinkong how he could do it by typing the correct address. O might see if I can do it if I have time, but I doubt its p[ossible simply because albums are not presented by country.

Ah, but I have no interest in ranking countries. I want to rank albums *from* specific countries.

I already know that the United Kingdom have more 5-star albums than France, and I know that Sweden is a more interesting prog-country than Denmark. That's not my agenda to confirm. What I would like to know is which Norwegian, Swedish or Danish albums are considered best by PA members (for i.e. booking and concert purposes), and similarly which Slovenian or Swiss artists and albums are worthwhile looking for when I'm in Slovenia or Switzerland on holiday.

I understand that "nationality" is linked to the band and not the album, though, which makes this feature difficult. Pity. Is there no easy way to change this?
