This is post 10000!!!!
Yes it is true! I heard it was greener on the other side (of 10000 posts), I'll see if that actually happens. Only 12 more people have posted more than me and they have been on this site for about a year longer than I have
I probably got to 10000 posts the fastest as well.
And to commemorate this occasion I am listening to Rush! 2112! Masterliness!
Brought to you by,

Not that anyone here really cares about post counts though, or would repeatedly post pointelss song titles, etc, in an effort to inflate their post count....
"Nah, his opinion of this album is crapola! Hang on ... I see he's got over 10,000 posts, so he must know what he's talking about, because with that many posts in six months, he's obviously a man of substance, and to be taken seriously."
I've never understood this obsession with post counts, and how mere numbers supposedly equate to "rep" (or why we should all be expected to congratulate someone for attaining any given number).
Quality -- not quantity. I applaud individual GOOD posts, not mere numbers of them, regardless of content. (It's not the size of your post count , but what you do with it that matters.)
Sorry for "raining on your parade," PIML. It's not personal, (and I actually enjoy your presence here) it's just an ongoing concern of mine about too many posts that essentially have nothing to say, and are of no interest to anyone but the poster. I believe, in general, that what we post here should be of at least some potential interest to others. I fail to see how a mere song title, for instance, could be of any interest to anyone, and I am strongly against the presence of threads that are clearly designed only to inflate post counts with a lot of pointless drivel.
Thus I don't like post counts, and the awarding of "status" on the forum solely because of post numbers. The numbers mean nothing -- save perhaps as an indication of the degree of the forum member's obsession with the site, or lack of a social life. (And here I freely admit to having an often obsesssive/unhealthy history with this forum -- thus my frequent breaks.)
But what would I know? I have little credibility, as I've only managed 6000 or so posts in over 3 years.
Curmudgeonly rant over -- carry on with the "celebration."

Sarcasm, perhaps?
Yes, really folks -- why exactly is this a praise-worthy "achievement?" I've been assured in the past that none of you currently handing out the "congratulations" care about post counts any more. (Coincidentally, you stopped caring after accumulating 10,000+ posts. Hmmmmm)
Sorry, but I think this all encourages the posting of way too much pointless, inane, self-indulgent drivel.
Enabling, perhaps?
That should win me a lot of fans, I'm sure....

Ah, but Peter - the more you debate the pros and cons of building up post counts for their own sake, your own count rises!

^ Thanks for the humour, Jim.
This "issue" is not the end of the world as we know it, I realize, and I can't expect a bunch of young fellows born and raised in the internet age to act like middle-aged men.
So please don't take my words too much to heart, young uber-posters. I think I've touched upon a serious issue for forums, but a high post count is certainly not an indication of a "bad" person (or, necessarily, one lacking a "real" life, and other interests).
Be young while you're young, I guess!

I suggest we all in PA make a collect or something and try to buy the following things for Mr. Ben-Prog:
- A one year suscription to a porn magazine
- A one year gold membership to a Golf Club With the Elderly in South Florida
- A backstage pass for the next Christina Aguilera Concert
- A gift-certificate for the Home Depot worth 500 in tools and hardware
- A bag full of lettuces, potatoes, rice, tomatoes, and all the ingredients of a good meal.
- A one year suscription to Dr. Phil's counseling services.
- An interview by Oprah or someone like that.
- The TUITION FEE for a BETTER SCHOOL WHERE THEY ACTUALLY MAKE HIM DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF LEAVING HIM WITH SO MUCH FREE TIME...

Yes? Let's see:
1 mile to school, one mile back=2 miles, x 5 days = 10 miles.
Walking around your house (to the bathroom, to the kitchen, to the living room, to the garage, to the bedroom): 0.5 miles a day altogether, x 7= 3.5 miles
We have 13.5 miles now. We are missing 2.5
Of course, at least once a week you have to go do something else, like ... I don't know. Looking at you post rating, when you're not at home probably you go to an internet place or cybercafe to keep on posting, but let's count any of those expeditions.... And as you mentioned a couple of movies in another thread, maybe you go either to the movies or to rent...let's add 2 miles for that....
15.5 miles
0.5 extra miles that you sleepwalk towards the computer until someone wakes you up, and there we have your "16 miles"...

Actually its 2 miles to school, 2 miles back= 4 x 5 = 20 miles - 2 miles missed for bus ride (2 times) = 16 + .5 mile to church, .5 mile back (3 times - 2 on sunday and one on friday) = 19 miles + all other walking around the house around school and every couple of weeks I go into central London for a few hours at least.

But it seems on average, you actually walk at least more than 16 miles per week, so your calculations are flawed.

Merit for high post count, hmmm....
I finish most of my homework at school, thus leaving lots of free time at home.
But I do other things, for instance I am taking piano lessons and have to practice the things I learned.
I read tons of books (starting War and Peace)
I revise for tests.
And I sleep
And yet I still am able to have 4 hours a day on here (not counting the 30 minutes in the morning). So my high post is a result of good day planning, free time, and interesting discussions taking place in the forum.
And I only post at home (well expect for a couple of times at school...)
