I visit your site daily and I always look at the top 100 list.  Apparently, Neil More's "?" album is up to #8 (I don't think it was even in the top 100 yesterday), but when I checked the reviews there hasn't been a new review posted in about a month.  Just thought that I would let you know that potential abuse of ratings is occuring.

You also have to take ratings without reviews into account MM.

I realize that, but I thought that the album's radical jump to #8 may indicate that it is getting an abnormal amount of 5 star ratings from the same person.  I just thought I would bring it to your attention, since as a regular member I am not able to see the ratings without reviews, so I cannot tell if any abuse is occuring.

By the way, this site is awesome.  You and the rest of the people responsible should be commended for your hard work and dedication to make this site as comprehensive as possible.  This is my number 1 favorite internet site and in the year that I've been a member I have been able to increase my cd collection ten-fold.  Thank you!!!

While I think it's just a bug, this is a problem. Yesterday, Metropolis 2, shot up to the one spot; id=2 (guest) and id=80 (aqualung) had a wash of 5 star reviews for the album.

Neil More's "?" was at #202 with 4,19 rtg and 79 votes on 04.03.2007.
Some mistake or abuse definitely.

Cheers guys. there's a minor bug at them moment resulting from the recent changes to the site. It's been reported to mailto:M@x - M@x to fix, but in the meanwhile please post any reports of similar incidents in the "Report bugs" section. I've sorted this one.

There's no abuse going on.Wink

But, the potential for abuse always remains. I really believe we ought to make it so you can't rate an album without a review.

Ratings without reviews will continue to be accepted, but will also continue to have a lesser value for average rating calculations.

Yes, ratings manipulation can still be attempted, but it will be much more cumbersome now, and we'll continue to deal with it if it happens.

In this case though, it was just a bug.
