Hey,
Lately, I haven't been on PA a lot. Partly because some parts of it are becoming really depressing. Everybody is bragging about their girl problems and how much life sucks.
There's still room for joy in life.
I need proof here!

Yeah, I noticed there has been some pretty 'emo' stuff going on in The Velvet Room, and I think it's pretty lame. People need to learn how to loosen up and have a good time. Just go on an aimless drive through downtown, or go camping for the hell of it. Just have fun for the sake of fun.

In school today the people who played flute in band were wearing these shirts that said "Flute Revolution" and every time I saw a person in one I said "VIVA LA FLUTE!!" I was thinking of saying "THATS SO BERN" but then people would think I'm weirder than I actually am.
EMONESS SUCKS GIANT MONKEY BALLS, LOL!!!

I often say in my head (but not out loud), that something is "So Bern!".
Bern is the new revolution.
Worship Bern, as he is master of the tall ones.
We're going to build a statue for you Bern, or were going to 15 years ago or 15 forward...
Rejoice rejoice, the Québécois is here to save us all from the apocalypse known as neo-prog!

“Thick As A brick” cures all traces of emoness.
I don’t understand why everyone is so depressed around here, and I’m sure that telling each other your problems with girls isn’t going to solve much.

The word "n00b" is present on most posts from that page.
This makes me think about something that happened at school this week. There's was a poll where they interviewed most college students here asking them : What do you think n00b means?
Most people thought it was some kind of insult in another language. It seemed so simple to me that I forgot that this word isn't really a real word and that it isn't used by everybody.

Well, I read a history of the word "n00b" (and several other versions) and our use on here of the word, is somewhat unique. It is supposed to be somewhat of an insult, but it's also supposed to indicate you're a noobie, or a newcomer and are not sure what you're doing.
The latter is kind of how we use it, but we use it mainly as a joke form. I'm not sure how many other sites/forums use the word in this way. Of course, we all hate the word, we just use it to take the micky out of those who use it on other forums to insult people.

Not in the UK.
Differences in British English and American English
In British English, when a quotation mark appears at the end of a
sentence the full stop is usually placed after it. The matter is partly
determined by the length of the enclosed material: the longer it is,
more acceptable it is that the full stop should come first. Any full
sentence enclosed within quotation marks will have its full stop before
the final quotation mark.
In American English the full stop normally comes before the
quotation mark. (This applies to commas and some other punctuation,
also.)
Examples of typical usage:
- [British:] You say "tomAYto", I say "tomAHto".
- [American:] You say "tomAYto," I say "tomAHto."
An exception to the American rule occurs when the placing of the
full stop inside the quote would lead to ambiguity, for example in
describing commands to be typed into a computer:
- At the prompt type "ls -lad".
In the case above, giving the instruction:
- At the prompt type "ls -lad."
would result in an error, since the full stop has special significance in instructions typed into a computer.
