Hi all. I know there are Genesis dvds such as Live at Wembley which all seem to showcase Phil Collins as singer, but does anyone know of any Genesis videos or dvds that contain live footage of the Peter Gabriel era? Why doesn't someone make one?!

I  bought a Genesis DVD in december Footings of 3 shows. 30.10.73 Shepperton Studios (I have the impression that it is the show which appears in the Box set) It was shot by the BBC I suppose. There are about 60 minutes of the Selling England Tour with all the characters : Britannia, Old King Cole, Watcher, Flower ... You have all the spoken Gabriel Intros which are quiet funny especially the one for Suppers Ready. The overall sound and image quality is OK. The 2 other shows are 20.12.733 NBC/Burbank and 20.04/74 Motreal. These 2 look like 4th generation video tape transferred to DVD and are not so hot. Genesis :live (FNM 0284)I bought it in a shop in Germany which does MailOrder http://www.zweitausendeins.de/ - www.zweitausendeins.de

E-Bay is also a good place to look, although you do have to be careful of the quality.

Managed to pick up a film of about an hour of the 1976 tour at Glasgow Apollo (with Bruford on drums) which was apparently released originally on 12" laser disc (remember them??). If you can cope with the 1970's graphics etc, it's a good record of a nervous Genesis on their first post-Gabriel tour.

Do you know which Floyd tour I have NEVER EVER seen any footage from - the ANIMALS "In the Flesh" tours of 1977 - I know there are plenty of audio things out there - OAKLAND COLLOSEUM is probably the finest quality one to my knowledge - but has anyone ever seen any video footage from this FLOYD TOUR??????

On the CLASSIC ALBUMS series a while back there was some great Dark Side footage so they onbviously have some in the vaults. And they have The Wall shows taped as well. Come on Floyd - GIVE US WHAT WE WANT!!!!

Thanks for that link, Alucard!! That looks like just the sort of thing I've been looking for for ages. I will be making a purchase I think.

I have also had trouble finding good Genesis DVDs. Damn popular Collins Genesis.

I have that one, I got it from suprnova, and burnt it on cd, and it's playable on my dvd player. Good quality too.

It's a shame that people in Romania think Genesis are pop, just because Peter Gabriel's solo works are radio-friendly danceable ditties.

It's a shame people sell these DVD's as they were mostly made by fans for fans.

They can quite easily be obtained by trading (or blancs and postage).

And yes, there is quite some Peter gabriel era Genesis avaialble on DVD. Some it even in very good quality.

Cheers,

Willem

What about the new Genesis critical review Dvd on the Gabriel era? Has anyone seen this, and if so, would you recommend it?

From what I understand its the most official collection of Gabriel footage you can find, however it is very pricey...

No, just little pieces, no complete footage. They couldn't show complete footage because that way it wouldn't be a documentary

The bootleg versions are more complete (and certainly have the same quality or even better)
