Tough one as I can't remember too many films that have been released this year.I was impressed with 'Spiderman 2' when I saw that on DVD recentlly.Excellent action adventure 'popcorn' stuff with decent acting and that rare thing in modern big budget films ....an engrossing story. So tell me what film released this year do YOU rate? Doesn't have to be big budget...doesn't even have to have been released at the Cinema..we're not talking Oscars necessarily!

Best movie of 2004 was Farenheit 9/11. Excellent piece of work!

I thought "Ray" was incredible. So very well done.
It has to be the best movie I've seen since "Slingblade."

I've heard good things about Ray. By the way, am I the only one who thinks Hero is terribly overrated? And has anybody heard of Lost Skeleton of Cadavra?

I'm not sure whether this is technically 2004, but 'Cold Mountain' is without a doubt the best film I've seen this year: Epic in scale, yet intimate, beautifully photographed, heartbreaking & funny, all at the same time.

Lost In Translation was my favourite film of the year. The whole film was brilliantly subtle and atmospheric, Bill Murray was wonderful in it too.

Oh, loved a lot of movies 2004. I'm also a movie freak besides Football and Prog
I really liked:
German movie about Hitler's last hours in Berlin. Well done, verdical, informative, stirring and by the way some of the best acting I ever saw. Who needs Hollywood Stars?
Old boy (Original, not the Hollywood remake, remakes "suck" )
One of the best and most morbid endings I ever saw...no happy end though. It won the Grand Prix of the Jury in Cannes...I consider an award in Cannes to be better than the Oscar because the Oscar is a pure US-Award and Cannes is international! This movie has to be seen, not only one of the best movies 2004, one of the best ones I saw in general!
Also very good:
- Jazzclub (german movie by comedian Helge Schneider )
- Team America - World Police (The one made by Trey Parker (Southpark))

The Life Aquatic was my favorite.
On the subject of Napolean Dynamite, I thought it was the worst film
I'd ever seen. Maybe I wouldn't hate it if people would stop
quoting the stupid lines from it.

Bubba Ho-Tep was by far the best movie I've seen this year. Despite the appearance of the film, it was very well done, though my opinion may be slightly biased as I am a huge Bruce Campbell fan. Others who have seen it with me have also said it was a great film.
Don't bother renting it, just buy it. I haven't seen a movie that good in so long.

Sam Raimi. Not his best work though. Try The Evil dead, The Evil dead 2, and Army of Darkness. Starring Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead is the best for any obsessed fan though.
Bruce Campbell played th eSnooty Usher in Spiderman 2.

I'll also give a vote to Bubba Ho-tep. The entire point behind the story seems to be taking an idea that is so far fetched and idiotic that it seems impossible to have anything good come out of it, and turning it into a brilliant peice of film. I laughed, I got shivers down my spine, and i was completely shocked.

For me the best movies of 2004 were "The Village" and "Napoleon Dynamite"
I liked those movies a lot.

I have to disagree with you. Troy was a bad movie, not just because it was horribly done, but the story was so innacurate to the true story of The Iliad. How can they make a movie about Homeric poetry without Gods!

Napoleon Dynamite was my favorite movie of '04. But I also saw "The Day After Tomorrow" and liked it too. Meet the Fockers was pretty good.
