Gerald Finzi and Ralph Vaughan Williams are among  my favourite British Composers. Both  attracted by English Folk Songs spend a lot of time to collect old Folk Songs and wrote arrangements based on these songs and  set poetry to music. While VW is more known for his symphonies his vocal works and BTW his operas are highly interesting. The younger and lesser known Gerald Finzi, who was influenced by Elgar, Parry and Vaughan Williams, with whom he became  friends was mainly a composer of songs evern so he composed some beautiful chamber music.

There is a brillant record on Vanguard that unites vocal works of both composers:
Vaughan Williams/Finzi:  'Vocal Works A Capella' by The Quink Vocal Ensemble

Tadpoles keep screaming in my ear
"Hey there! Rotter's Club!
Explain the meaning of this song and share it"
