We are currently listening to an interesting soundscape experiment on radio, that is taking place in Cologne Germany and San Francisco California at the same time. There are microphones on several bridges in Cologne and the bay area, and these sounds are combined. Since Jean is originally from Oakland (which is just a bridge away from SF) and I am from Cologne, this is a very interesting experience for us.

I live near San Francisco, so this interests me. Could you elaborate for me on what exactly they are doing, Friede?

You hear sounds of the cities - water, trains, a plane starting right now, birds (or chirping noises anyway), church bellls ringing, the voices of announcers (just heard a German voice announcing the departure of a train, so that probably was from a mic at Cologne central station). Everyday noises, but they become like music when listening to them like that.

Interesting concept.
