 Sorry, had to step in here (so to speak) - in certain parts of England "having a lag" is slang for having a wee-wee...
So - having a lag & using a dial up conjures all sorts of pictures   (most of which have probably already been posted elsewhere by Velvetclown).
Sorry - back on thread - the site does appear to be having some server issues recently, distinct slowing down of refresh rates. -------------
