Hi all,
more than 30 years ago I met first with progrock and jazzrock, but at those times there were not that many competitors available on the field (I mean the genres field). Growing old and along with time, I discovered new nice and fresh streams like new and dark wave, indies, trip hop and some others, but now when I am over 50, I tend to go back to the roots, and try to discover also neoprog bands. My favorite bands are many (not all belong to progrock box), in addition to standards like Genesis, PF, JTull, KC, Zappa, Camel, and many others usually cited here in the forum, I especially like
Peter Hammill and VDGG, Darryl Ways´s Wolf, Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Anthony Moore, Camberwell Now, Legendary Pink Dots and Edward Ka-Spel, Tuxedomoon, both Enos, Brand X, Death in June, Sigur Rós, David Sylvian, Tangerine Dream and solo albums of the members, Leftfield, Stereolab, Young Gods ...
I am open to any genre and type of music, and would like to meet new friends tuned on similar amplitude here and who can help me revealing new or totally forgotten bands and beautiful pieces of music... Thanks Prog Archives for their existence!
Cheers,
Dranreb

Hello Dranreb ... have a good time here ... any Czech bands you'd like to recommend?

Hello dranreb and welcome! I am relatively new here too and I imagine there can't be many others than you from Czech Republic here. I though I was a hopeless case, doomed to like only those few prog bands I had liked for almost 20 years, but NO - here I've already found some exciting new (new for me) bands to be interested in, such as Mostly Autumn, Renaissance, Camel, The Flower Kings and Anglagard. I am sure there will be some discoveries for you to make here as well.

An old man becoming a newbie? And here I was hoping for a young woman to become my love slave. Ah well. Welcome anyway I guess.
Just kidding. Have fun. There are a lot of great people here. But watch out for that Tony fellow.

Hi Trotsky,
sorry to say nothing special here in CZ at the moment, definitely in the sphere of progrock, it is almost dead. What I would recommend is Načeva-very interesting female singer with good band support. From time to time I notice some very new bands doing modern experimental music, but their name slipped my old memory....
Regards,
Dranreb

Welcome, from another fellow old man.
Remember, you are only as old as you feel!

Hi all,
I'm a newbie. Anyone out there know where/how I can get Marillion's 'Marbles' album? I live in Malaysia. Ain't got no decent prog. rock cds here While you're at it, I'm also looking for Glass Hammer, Riverside and Pendragon. Any good, secure deals online?
Email me, thanks.

I'm not sure about international music deals, but I suggest you ask this in some other discussion area ( http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=44 - Non-Music Prog Lounge ?), maybe somebody else can help you!

hi dranreb,
Always good to hear of more Peter Hammill and VdGG fans.
Age is no barrier here and no-one can tell if you're a baldy, silver-surfer or owner of a fine golden mane (unless you post a piccy in the Rogues Gallery)
