Review by Björn Lewin @ 9:30:28 AM EST, 8/5/2004
5 stars  —   One of YES' best albums ever! This should be the standard for a band-symphonic orchestra-collaboration! They've done it much better than anyone else to that time - even better than Deep Purple. Deep Purple's tries might have been essential to a certain point but the music only WANTED and didn't DO it. It was jut nice but not extraordinary! This is how an orchestra should be used together with a rock band. Anything else is insufficient! And by the way: [%*!#] you, Scorpions!

Nothing is said about the music, just a comparison between Yes' performance and Deep Purple's one. And the last line is out of context !!!

0 stars  —   SORRY...all you friends of later YES excursions...i dont wanna be harsh...but this album really are...ahem..a waste of time....yours and mine...and YES´s at some point !! Maybe it´s because im the "old school" reviewer....but really, i cannot find any positive word for this recording. Anyhow..i am very fond of YES....and their early material stands for me as supreme prog music and UK-prog history as well. Have a nice...eh...summer.

4 stars  —   This is a fabulous album -hard and heavy pomp rock, I'm a total fan of TREVOR RABIN and rate him highly as a guitarist, producer and solo musician. This album especially brings home to the listener, the 'kick in the Ar**' that YES so desperatlely needed in the late eighties, I just wish he'd have replaced 'messy' STEVE HOWE sooner! production is slick songs are interesting -what are you all moaning about? I don't listen to yes much these days but consider this, 90125, UNION, CLOSE TO THE EDGE, and RELAYER to be my top 5 discs. That said, YES do put a load of old SH*TE out these days with all their nonsense 'greatest hits, half baked rubbish' but If you don't buy any other YES disc and are relatively new to this band (whats wrong with you?) or prefer the slightly pompier/AOR side of prog, then this one is for you boys and girls, check it out, it rocks!

Review by Miles Eadie @ 9:31:43 PM EST, 8/7/2004

5 stars  —   This album is amazing! One of Dream Theater's best work, by far! Dream Theater is the best band of all time! ----------------------- PLEASE, THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS TO GET SICK OF DREAM THEATER'S MUSIC! SO IF SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOWS OF A GOOD BAND THAT CAN EVEN BE COMPAIRED TO DREAM THEATER, PLEASE TELL ME! AND I'VE CHECKED OUT TONS OF BANDS THAT DON'T EVEN COMPAIR TO DREAM THEATER! SO PLEASE TELL ME! AND I DON'T MEAN PROGRESSIVE BANDS THAT HAVE SINGERS WITH EXTREMELY HIGH VOICES, LIKE, ANGRA! AND I DON'T MEAN ANY KORNY BANDS LIKE SYMPHONY X!----------- ---------- So please guys, help me out!

This guy is desperately looking for bands sounding like DT, but he doesn't explain why TOT is a masterpiece.
