I already did a https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=134738" rel="nofollow - 90s poll which included three of my favourite albums that were not only recorded and released in the 90s but also the songs had not come out in any other version before the 90s, otherwise Cardiacs would have been there with "Big Ship". And if doing lives recorded in the 90s but not released until the 200s, the Bjork would have been there with "Isobel". And I did three songs from three live albums that topped the PA charts that tried to meet the same criteria. For this poll, the first five are songs/pieces from the 2010's that I like, and I am deliberately going with ones that I have mentioned before to help with familiarity when it comes to my picks (a strategy I often employ, but familiarity can breed contempt). As with the 90's poll for the 90s, for all of these I strive to come up with music that was not released in any form (be it studio or live) before the 2010s, and this would include covers if I had any listed. The next five (for balance) are my choices from the top five albums from PA charts which are lives recorded and released post 2010 and the songs were not released in any form before the 2010s hopefully in all cases. Again, vote for as many as you like, and mention any others that you both like and think relevant. Ten is a bit video heavy, but I have found that people generally are more likely to check out individually embedded videos than playlists. Note that the Vanishing Twin has not been released as an album. If I continue, it may only be earlier decades that get much interest. I love this series of polls and would very much like to explore everything I don't know. Unfortunately time is very tight these days, so not sure when I manage to do that. Same Trupy is the bomb.

I'll see if I can come up with some favs not on the poll. But I voted for Anna and Discipline. I regret that my copy of This One's For England was faulty beyond keeping. I will buy that again in a heart beat. The banter of Parmenter to the audience is Bob Newhart worthy. Deadpan jokes every where. It terms of the poll I would need to carefully go through everything to be fair. I have plenty of time to do that but need to be 'in the mood' so to speak. In terms of my own picks I would likely go for some Steven Wilson from Get All You Deserve or Anathema's Universal which are both fantastic DVD/Live albums of the era and include great live versions of tracks off Grace For Drowning/ Raven That Refused to Sing and We're Here Because We're Here/ Weather Systems, perhaps the greatest two 'double punches' of the 2010's for me. There is also Big Big Train's From Stone and Steel featuring tracks off The English Electrics. Actually that one is even better than the aforementioned! |

^ It's not a contest, and I'm fine with people voting for any and all they know and like and with limited knowledge (I do hope that people who vote on things also post on what they voted for -- I am interested in getting to know what people know and don't know, like, dislike...). It is particularly rewarding for me when someone finds something they like, but being in the right mood helps for that. Thanks for the track, I really liked the flute in that and the instrumental part form 3:25 to about 4:30 is very good with a lovely key change in it.

My top six would be, of course the first five that are particular favourites of mine, plus the King Crimson. While I was not planning to vote, I will give one of the three of my five that have no votes a vote. I adore the groove of that rendition of "Cryonic Suspension May Save Your Life" by Vanishing Twin. IQ - The Road of Bones. The only skellington in my music closet is that despite being a huge fan of Neo Prog, I only have six Neo Prog albums in my entire CD collection - and they're all by Marillion!
