I was listening Aerie Faerie Nonsense and the sound is so disturbing! It feels like they are playing in a bubble. This is even worse with In the Region of the Summer Stars (not the 1984 version though). Too bad since the music is amazing!

The ENID?  I heard all of the tracks were passed through a conch shell when mastered. LOL

I have the original UK EMI vinyl press and really, i dont think it sounds too bad at all! I have no idea how it sounds on other media but i think 'In the region of the summer stars' sounds much boxier and duller in its production but am not surprised due to the budget constraints it was recorded under.

Probably the re-presses were compressed. Usually, the CDs were compressed hard as well back in the day.
CosmicLawnMower probably has a first issue, but my vinyl a re-press after the fact, and honestly sounds like it was recorded in a cardboard box.

Aerie Faerie Nonsense was recorded at  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_Studios" rel="nofollow - Morgan Studios  during August–September 1977 and released that year on  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMI_Records" rel="nofollow - EMI Records . EMI deleted it from their catalogue soon after.

In 1983, frustrated by the unavailability of the album, the Enid reconstructed it so that they could re-release it by themselves. They re-recorded all the tracks except Ondine. It was released on vinyl LP with slightly altered track names and the poem "To Sleep" by  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Keats" rel="nofollow - John Keats  featured on the album cover. In 1985 Robert John Godfrey and Stephen Stewart recorded an extended version of Fand that was released for the fan club. This extended version appears on CD releases.

In June 2010, following the Inner Sanctum releases, EMI agreed to grant an exclusive worldwide license for the original EMI release of the album to Operation Seraphim. The album was subsequently transferred from the original 30 ips 1/4 inch Dolby A tapes to 96 kHz 24 bit digital by Christian Curtis at Abbey Road. The tracks were mastered for CD by Max Read at  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lodge_Recording_Studio" rel="nofollow - The Lodge Recording Studio . The CD Artwork was taken from the original releases and incorporated into an eight-page booklet. The album was released on 15 July 2010 and made available from The Enid’s online shop. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerie_Faerie_Nonsense#cite_note-1" rel="nofollow -
