Fluctus Quadratum (FQ) is an English keyboard-driven progressive rock band that seeks to transport the listener to the heyday of progressive rock, but with a decidedly contemporary slant.

They embarked on their Fluctus Quadratum adventure as a father-son duo, both being ardent followers of progressive music, in 2019 during the Covid pandemic. Jopheus Burtonshaw (son), a 14-year-old self-taught keyboardist, composer, and producer—doing just about everything but drums and vocals—produced the music for their first FQ track, Convergence. His father, Rick Burtonshaw, drummer, has his own history in the industry, having drummed for bands such as Cry Wolf, Tricks Upon Travellers (T.U.T.), and Pre-Med.

FQ received a backing by Sky Rocket Records and got their very first gig at a local progressive rock festival. The two were subsequently in need of vocals and were joined by Curtis Adamczyk.
The three have seen a number of guitarists coming and going throughout the years before finally settling (at least temporarily) with live session musicians. Jopheus composes all the instrumental passages, and his incredible ability to come up with complex chords and very complex riffs has frightened away many a musician! Hence, the trio of Jopheus, Rick, and Curtis took over the driving force within the band.

The three-piece, with a string of guitarists, have performed at numerous fantastic festivals to date, including On Board the Craft (where the band performed their first ever live gig in 2022), Fusion Prog Festival, Nene Valley Rock Festival (where they won the award for best new band), and Prog for Peart, HRH Prog, and The 1865, opening for The Emerald Dawn.
Future performances in 2025 include a headline slot at the Sunday Club at 45 Live in Kidderminster and the Sonic Rock Solstice Festival.

The band launched their initial offering, an EP titled The First Wave, in November 2022, and subsequently their debut album Laplacian, which is released in February 2025.

Current line-up:
Curtis Adamczy: Vocals
Jopheus Burtonshaw: Keys
Rick Burtonshaw: Drums
Mark Worledge : Guitars on live shows
