Four of my favourite bands, with four of my favourite albums…and all that “difficult” second album!
So which would you choose?

Believe's Yesterday is a friend is not their best, but it's close (it's tied with the first until Seven Widows).
Noir Désir's best album, and the one that is the closest to prog (still not prog, but not that far)*, is their 2nd one, Veuillez rendre l'âme (à qui elle appartient).
Airbag's All Rights Removed is another great 2nd album.
(*: one might argue for Des visages des figures instead; in any case, there is a certain original expressivity in them that contributes to my liking them)

IQ Re-awakened my interest in prog. Existentionalist themes and a punk style production, this is Genesis sleeping rough on the streets and living in a cardboard box (which could have happened to me if my parents hadn't been so patient with me)

Did you feel nervous about it?

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I guess I'll go with IQ. Some volcanos spew forth used clothes dryers.
