Suppose for the rest of your days, you could only listen to albums that either had a title track or did not have a title track. Would you choose albums WITH a title track or albums WITHOUT a title track?

For example, if you chose the former, you could listen to Close to the Edge by Yes, A Farewell to Kings by Rush, Song for America by Kansas, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis, and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

However, you would never be able to hear Relayer by Yes, Moving Pictures by Rush, Leftoverture by Kansas, Selling England by the Pound by Genesis, or Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

These are of course only examples- there are many albums you would be choosing and many albums you would be forsaking.  Choose wisely!  Big smile

My uninformed impressions are there are more albums without a title track than with one, so went with the quantity argument. Of course if I'm wrong, they'll make me flatten Kaiser rolls in the kitchen. I think it would be amusing to have a bunch of records without their covers and no labels, sort of like opening the kitchen cabinet to a bunch of cans with no labels. It's harder to sniff cans than boxes.

I'm not even 30 years old yet. I think it'd be foolish for me to make a permanent decision for the remainder of my life at this point. So, no vote.

Most Tangerine Dream albums have a title track, so...yeah.

Well, several of my favorites don't have a title track... so, no.

Dream Theater - Images and Words
Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All
Wippy Bonstack - 22
Allan Holdsworth - i.o.u.

Looked for a top 20 list of albums flying around on my computer, and counted. 11:9 for "without" - very tight affair.

If I voted With, I couldn't have Selling England By The Pound, and if I voted Without, I couldn't have Wish You Were Here, just to put more or less random examples of "OMG, this is not fair!" No good option here, just two equally bad.

Spontaneously I pick "without", but when I think about it, it happens to be that concept albums usually do have a title track, somehow... And I think that the concept album is the best form of a good album.

Brain Salad Surgery. The original issue didn't have the title track so I vote 'without'. That is far and away my favourite ELP album. I would then have to forsake Trilogy and Tarkus but I would still have ELP, Pictures ( I guess this is 'without'?), WBMFTTSTNE (which includes a better version of Tarkus anyway), Works Volume One and Two but sadly In The Hot Seat as well)

and NO Love Beach Beer

A rather hard choice, which means abandoning CttE, WYWH, Danger Money, The Mountain Queen and Köhntarkösz a.o.
