Whom Gods Destroy is a new progressive metal project rising from the ashes of Sons of Apollo, following the 2023 breakup of the supergroup with Mike Portnoy returning to Dream Theater. This new supergroup is in fact headed by two ex-alumni of SoA - Derek Sherinian and Rob "Bumblefoot" Thal, with the duo searching for new ground for their fruitful and obviously mutually inspiring collaboration. And their newest musical outlet is a sort of a supergroup again as the two musicians are joined by Dino Jelusick as the lead vocalist of the collective, and Yas Nomura and Bruno Valvere forming the band's rhythm section, respectively responsible for the bass and drumming duties, forming quite the international lineup.

Signed by Inside Out Music, Whom Gods Destroy released their debut studio album (under the title 'Insanium') in early 2024, to really positive critical reception and obviously getting the necessary attention, which is expected when you have such a fine lineup. This band should be under the radar of fans of Sons of Apollo, Queensryche and Dream Theater, as the music is inspired heavily by traditional heavy metal with lots of progressive spins and powerful and very upfront vocals.

Lineup:

Derek Sherinian – keyboards, Hammond organ
    Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal – guitars
    Dino Jelusick – vocals
    Yas Nomura – bass
    Bruno Valverde – drums

I'm not a metalhead myself, so don't tend to notice releases such as this, but considering the pedigree of the musicians involved, and the fact that the band is under the wings of such a prominent label as Inside Out Music, I'm really surprised that this band hasn't been suggested before now.

Thanks for putting in the work (though I think you meant " on the radar," rather than "under").

On the metal charts

It's a good album and certainly as 'prog' as Sons Of Apollo imo.
