Enter 2005! This one's coming shortly after the previous one, which has a clear favorite so far... I do have a feeling that there are three very clear favorites here as well but let's see how it turns out.  My vote goes to the incredible release from The Mars Volta. it's one of my favorite bands, very consistent, never released a weak album. I'll make a small list of 2005 albums, the 2000s had a ton of great progressive metal.

very hard to go against Deadwing there... then, it's DT's last great album > Riverside it's funny, because putting the Petrucci aside, I literally don't like any of the others at all!

Me too... as you know, Threshold and Vanden Plas are my fave PM bands.. | Deadwing is top 3 Porcupine Tree easily and so gets my vote although Octavarium is my favourite DT album and although Frances The Mute is insanely brilliant, it scares the sh*t out of me! |
