Rob Harrison is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from South Wales. Having grown up on bands such as Jethro Tull, Rush, Gentle Giant, and King Crimson, Rob's passion for playing his own music began at the tender age of 14 when he first heard the mesmerising creativity of guitarist Tony McPhee from The Groundhogs. This encounter would ignite a lifelong passion that would see Rob delving into a variety of muscial and artistic pursuits. Originally a guitar player with a penchant for groovy riffs and complex segues, Rob picked up the flute in his early twenties and learned how to play it by watching videos of Jethro Tull. He formed heavy prog outfit Attercopus in 2013 with Lloyd Stratford and Martin Jones who produced one album called 'Last Utterance', which was released post-humously in 2023. In 2019 Rob was asked to form Z Machine with fellow fusion lovers Owen Rosser and Gareth Piper, which they did along with Kristian Rees and Lester Greenhalgh. Rob stupidly told them he had a saxophone (and did not tell them he could not play it!). However, with a timely intervention from a global pandemic, Rob spotted an advert from a saxophone teacher he already admired from one of his favourite bands - Ian East of Gong fame. After studying under East for four years and counting; playing numerous gigs and festivals; joining both Mascot Moth and The Felix Subway Band; and releasing a well-received debut album from Z Machine, Rob decided to write a solo album accompanied by six small stop motion animations: Explode My Head, which was released on 28/06/24.

Rob is currently writing and gigging with Z Machine in preparation for their second album; recording regularly with Mascot Moth; and improvising all over the place with The Felix Subway Band.
