Sprain is a kind of experimental rock meets post-rock band. While I would compare it to Swans (which I tend to think of most as experimental rather than post-rock), I think the category that contains acts like Squid, black midi, Black Country, New Road, This Heat... might suit it best. I only have heard the 2023 release, The Lamb as Effigy, but it is a contender for my Album of the Year. It is for The Lamb as Effigy that I am suggesting this for PA.
In 2018, Sprain was founded by Alex Kent and April Gerloff in Los Angeles, California, US. They were inspired by slowcore bands and released two studio albums, As Lost Through Collision (2020) and The Lamb as Effigy (2023), as well as the EP Sprain in 2018. The Lamb is Effigy was released in September, 2023, and then Sprain announced a month later that they were disbanding.
If accepted, I would like to write a fuller bio and add the band.

Yes, I've only listened to it once, but it is really interesting. Sort of black midi meets Ashenspire. I noticed it because it is one of the very few prog releases on RYMs Aoty 2023 list (which only contains 25 releases in total).

Yes, listening to Hostile Architecture by Ashenspire now and hearing that. Digging H.A. by the way. Very good. Excellent music for what I want right now.
I brought Sprain to the Avant-Prog team, hope it goes well.
