lespecial for Crossover Prog

I saw these guys a couple of weeks ago and they absolutely (prog) rocked.

These guys were previously suggested for Eclectic in January 2017 and rejected: “While lespecial is definitely an experimental and eclectic group, we've rejected them on the basis that too small of a fraction of their discography is actually prog.”

So, apparently being experimental and eclectic wasn’t enough to be “actual prog.” The suggester then amended the suggestion to crossover and apparently the post died and is now locked.

It’s a very detailed post so here’s a link to that:

At the time it was posted, the band had only one full length album released. They just released their fourth album Odd Times in September.

I won’t rehash their bio from the previous post. So, brief bio:

lespecial is a progressive rock power trio originally from Connecticut. The band members are:

Luke Bemand - Bass, Synth, Percussion, Vocals

Jonathan Grusauskas - Guitar, Synth, Sampler, Percussion, Vocals

Rory Dolan - Drums, Sampler, Percussion, Vocals

One can hear a variety of band influences such as King Crimson, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and Primus, as well as musical influence from metal to hip hop.

A fun live band. “Squid Rising” from NYE live stream 12/31/20.

For Primus fans, they live streamed a full cover of Frizzle Fry.
