Thanks for the poll, Drew. This looks like a list of all the albums I didn't have room for in my poll, where the only album I know is Flame Dream - Out in the Dark. Embarrassed

Difficult choice between Eskaton - 4 Visions and Dün - Eros. Finally I decided myself by Eskaton - 4 Visions but only by a thin hair.

Deceit. Lots of good stuff on that list, particularly Univers Zero, Dun and Art Zoyd.

I like the Metheny/Mays release best here. Also of note are Eno/Byrne and The Police.

Many great releases ; Byrne and Eno- Bush of Ghosts- life changing masterpiece . followed by Eskaton; Univers Zero, and Dixie Dregs'

They were called The Dregs when "Unsung Heroes" was released. Not Dixie Dregs. That release gets my vote.

Tossed a vote to However, since Sudden Dusk is a nifty album that receives little love. Check it out y'all.

all amazing in an amazing year for all kinds of great music. Can't decide.

I might have voted for The Residents - Mark of the Mole if it was here.
Kraftwerk - Computer World is a favorite too

-Symphonie pour le jour où brûleront les cités is amazing, but almost identical to their 1976-debut (so I don't really consider it)

Again, awesome variety in choices (and tastes).
I love the surprise of seeing a "non-prog" band's "most proggy" album leading the vote getting. (I speak of Ghost in the Machine, of course.)

By 1981, I had lost almost all hope of hearing a good level prog record. Even the Italians seemed to be lacking. During that time, I came back to jazz and especially to Miles Davis. It's true that I didn't know all these records.  Today, I would say that However and Exodus are my favorites on this list.

I picked Los Jaivas but hadn't noticed Metheny/Mays album.  It would have been a tough choice
