Prog and romance are uneasy bedfellows. Anyway, here is a selection of songs that may get you on the right side (I said may). As usual, feel free to insert your own selection.

Not that it takes more than one song to get IN the mood, but I'm gonna need a few more tunes altogether to be quite honest.

^ I'd also throw Pink Floyd's 'Pillow of Winds' and 'Biding My Time' into the mix, and possibly even 'Echoes'.

Peter Hammill A way out Here are the last words of this beautiful song " Out of sight, out of mind, leave it out, Leave it behind out of reach Of all family, all friends Out, out, going for the bale-out, No parachute above you. Out, out, you'll not feel the fall-out ...I wish I'd said "I love you"

I forgot to mention the Beatles. A lot of love songs in their early days, and many on their latest albums as well.

"Ladies of the road" is a love song?
Anyway, I'll be a bit predictable and vote for "nights in white satin."
Another good one (although admittedly a bit of a guilty pleasure) is "love will find a way."
Also, I'm pretty sure "And You And I" is not a love song. I think it's about different nations fighting with each other or something. I don't remember exactly but I remember it being about politics somehow.

And You And I is for me the greatest love song ever. Though this poll is missing Lady Fantasy. And I think The Fountain of Salmacis is a weird choice for a love song... though strictly speaking, I guess it's not incorrect. Some sort of horror love story.

I always thought Nights in White Satin was a ballad, not a love song. Guess I should have paid more attention to the lyrics. And I didn't know And You and I was a love song either. That and Heart of the Sunrise (is Heart of the Sunrise a love song too?) are my two favourite Yes songs.

I think Peter Hammill has more than his fair share of love songs for a prog artist.

Wild Love from this list. Though I would consider it and Ladies of the Road more like lust songs than love songs. And Fountain of Salmacis is more of a story song. Though I suppose the moral is a warning of the dangers of too much loving of the self.
In any case, fun selection!

I like King Crimson's Heartbeat a lot. Nothing wrong with a love song that is straighter than what many seem to expect from prog.
Anyway, And You And I from the list. (Not because of the lyrics but because of the music.)

It's lyrics are not so in your face and corny, but it seems to describe some marriage or some other ritual for two people to live together. But in good Jon Anderson fashion, you have to put some effort and imagination to grasp some meaning. However, I find it deeper than your common love song.

It's the song that I heard on the radio that led me to get Beat. While I still like the song, it is "Neurotica" and "Sartori in Tangier" that are the highlight tracks for me.

I was talking about the song Heartbeat (in the context of this thread) because I saw a surprisingly negative statement about it.
You are talking about what songs you like from the album Beat. Two very different things.

Yeah. Conversations sometimes diverge. Disaster was sharing how that song led them to the album. And it's a great album. And a great track Heartbeat is. I think it would fit much better in the poll (though the KC track listed here is certainly fun).
