POST 2000 ONLY!*
From bands like IQ and Yes having a second heyday and solo artists spawned from broken up bands like Steven Wilson to an entire new generation of prog bands including the Mars Volta, Dillinger Escape Plan and Thank You Scientist make up the surprisingly large field of new prog... post comments on the genre here.

Could someone please help me establish new prog as a genre in its own right, as it is not currently listed. Smile
*Bands formed pre-2000 are fine so long as they've done stuff post-2000.

Sanguine Hum are amazing. Have 5 albums, first one released as download only in 2007.

Well your first statement is going to make sure this thread is dominated by old bands more recent releases rather than anything new.

No, we certainly don't need any additional genres.

Two of my favourite new prog bands are Blackmore's Night and Mostly Autumn and I'll have threads coming up for both of those bands just as soon as I've written the albums intros. Smile

The Aristocrats, formed in 2011. Three of the best musicians currently on Earth. Here is Culture Clash.

Sorry, but what you are talking about here is nothing close to a defined genre. Its merely a chronological regrouping of already defined artists. "New" says absolutely zero about the artist's sound.
Even if we had the capacity to do so, Progarchives.com will not be making any changes to the subgenres as they are currently established.

And quite frankly, your "modern prog" thread is more than enough to discuss the topic.
