| I noticed something interesting today while listening to my Pendragon playlist. This may have already been posted and discussed, but on their song "Am I really losing you" from their Window of Life album, there is an familiar chord pattern/melody that starts at the 2:33 mark. Not making any judgment on it one way or the other, just found it interesting. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. |

It is even obvious quote. But Pendragon are so musically able that they were able to copy classic prog and add their own ingredients so that their music sound even more magical than blockbusters like Yes or Pink Floyd. ------------- yet you still have time! |

| It was obvious but I have heard more blatant rip offs. For example there was a direct lift from ELP on the first Mars Hollow album. I don't remember the song but apparently the band considered it an homage and not a rip off. I guess you get away with it by calling it a tribute. :P |

The thing with this album is there are a couple references/ similarities to classic bands. From what I recall there are Hide In Your Shell and Dance On A Volcano melodies hidden in one of the tracks. |

The Pendragon is a pretty blatant ripoff too. It doesn't bother me that much actually. It did initially but I got used to it. I think these bands know they are "small fish" and the bands they are "borrowing" from won't go after them.

If you actually haven't heard Pendragon, you ought to check them out. I never got into them a whole lot because I found some of their music had cheesy lyrics and really don't like the "edgy"/teenagy songs. But they have some damn good songs, and their musicianship is amazing. Nick has some of the most emotional guitar solos in the business. He's friends with Andrew Latimer and you can hear influences of Camel in their music, especially in the new album. |

| Yep, I would imagine Pendragon are big fans of Yes and Camel as well as Genesis. Maybe not Marillion though since they were more like contemporaries but I think these bands probably think of these things as "easter eggs" and not much else. To me it's kind of a cheap trick but oh well. |

I always saw Pendragon as a strong mix of Pink Floyd with Genesis, adding some "neo prog" (80s tones) to the mix. My favorite albums from them is imo where they go beyond their boundaries while keeping a really solid songwriting: Believe and, the new one, Love Over Fear. |
