I'll be on the air at KSFR in Santa Fe, New Mexico, this Friday, October 5th, 10 to midnight, Mountain Standard Time for "Late Night Free Form".

Anyone with internet access can tune in at KSFR.org

I'm free to play whatever I want on the air; haven't decided on an exact theme yet, but there's sure to be plenty of Prog Rock in the mix.   (I'm leaning toward a sampling of Canterbury Scene, at least for the 1st hour).

I'm also tentatively scheduled for Friday, Oct. 26th (same time slot), during which I'm planning a Halloween-type program: "The Strange and Frightening"--sure to be almost all Prog Rock.
(I'll post more on this in the near future once I know for sure its a go).

Update: Yes,  October 26 is a go for Friday Late Night Free Form!

So, with Halloween coming up, I'll be doing my show for the "Strange and Frightening", 10 to Midnight (Mountain Time).

First hour will probably be a little lighter
2nd hour (11 to midnight) I'll get into some harder rock and more "frightening" tracks.

You can tune in at KSFR.org (Santa Fe Community Radio).

yeah.. post us a reminder...   I have to see if you have what it takes to dethrone the mighty Dick Heath as having the single sexiest radio voice ever on this site.  Though I would have killed to have heard Raff's radio show back in the day. You ain't heard sexy till you've heard her voice.. especially when she is angry...  and suddenly shifts from English into Italian..

it is like popping 10 viagra man...

Uh oh, pressure's on!!

Well, I'll say right now, I'm sure I can't compete against any great radio voice!  There's a kind of irony in that fact that I even do this:  my voice is pretty low-key and really NOT the best for radio.

However, I love doing the programs.    Its really all about getting great music (esp prog. rock) to the ears of the people! (Esp. in Santa Fe; there's only one other person I know in town who even knows what 'prog rock' is).

OK, so here's your reminder: I'm on the air tomorrow night at 10:00 PM Mountain.  KSFR.org

If you miss the program, there's still a way to hear it:  Radio Free America keeps recordings of programs on public stations from around the U.S. for about 2 weeks after their air date.  The website is:

www.radiofreeamerica.com

Do a search for KSFR, then hit the "View Full Archive" button on the left. A calendar will come up on the screen from which you can click on the date of the show you're looking for (in this case Oct 26).

BUT, be aware that Friday Late Night Free Form is a new program, and RFA has not updated the name of the program in their database, so search for "Santa Fe Opry" instead (the older name of the program for the 10:00 slot)--the time (10:00 PM) will likely be listed with that name.   And don't confuse the LATE Night Free Form with "Friday Night Free Form"--that's a program that airs earlier at 6:30 PM.

Might be better anyway, if you're somewhere on the other side of the world, to listen to this program at night, which I recommend.  (If you listen live in Europe, eg., its sometime in the morning, I think.)

Hey, I loves me some ADII, but only have Phallus Dei right now and not a lot of time to change up the play list--I'll keep it in mind for future shows. Have plenty great stuff, though.  The Univers Zero I've got lined up is some of the scariest sh** I've heard!!  May be some surprises in the rest for the prog community, but mostly fairly standard (esp in 1st hour).

You would have liked Space Pirate Radio and the choices that Guy made for his shows ... it had the greatest, non-stop array of all that German music you could shake your ideas at! And Guy was at it, for almost 25 years in Santa Barbara on real radio, not the pop-up kind of stuff in the Internet, that still does small cuts, and is afraid to follow it up with even more weirdness, and goes instead to a well known 4 to 5 minute song! And Guy's listings for the first year alone (1974), would make PA blush ... and look just like a top ten listing from a Variety magazine no one read!

To me, that still is the defining line as to what a DJ is good or just another top ten'r!

Album that I would still like to get ... Lothat Meid's 18 Karat Gold ... All Bums. It had some wonderful things in it ... including the funny ... if my guru would know ... of course it is sung by Renate, too!

oh Pedro.. while I might be considered the Anthony Bourdain of prog (god I love you David)... I have often seen myself as the Howard Stern of Prog.

I have had dreams of doing my own prog radio show.. full of great music, beer, comedy, and lots of naked Italian chicks.... thus necessitating a move into video podasts... perhaps I might some day.. perhaps when I retire.

So it's gonna be 9pm west coast time if I'm not mistaken, I'm gonna try to listen.   The KSFR site seems a little buggy for me, could be my internet tonight.   But I'll check both the FNFF and the Santa Fe Opry, assuming I can actually get a stream going.

Break a leg tonight !

Listening to the rebroadcast now, good soundtrack to my Friday night.   You have a good radio personality, relaxed, unassuming, and a decent voice.

And what's this next one, so familiar.   Bruford/Levin?   Crimson?   Eccentric Orbit?   I own this, what is it??   It's killing me!

You click on yesterday's date (the 26th) and then click 'Santa Fe Opry', a few adds and then the show.   It would cut out occasionally but mostly works --

Hey, thanks to all the listeners, and hope you enjoyed!   I haven't heard the recording yet, but I'm aware of a couple glitches that I hope weren't too bad, and (always self critical as I am) my delivery probably could improve.  Still, overall I think it was OK.

I'll post if I get a chance to get on the air again.

Thanks for compliment (in earlier post).

So, you're probably talking about Steve Hackett's "A Tower struck Down" , which is what came after Geddy.

yeah... I've been toying with the idea for some time after digging little Ian's show.  But knowing myself and everything I have on plate now...  if I couldn't invest 110% in it and make it the single greatest prog radio show ever done as I know I could I wouldn't waste the time.  I suspect if I do it won't be for a couple of more years until I've retired and could really use the creative and comedic outlet.  In between the real job and contract work I do from home for game designers.. I simply wouldn't have the time to it justice.

I'll be sure to hit your show this evening after dinner. Got side tracked last night and didn't have the time. Since Raff is working late.. I should have the time and the dead air...

no cheap hotel for you.. you get the royal treatment.. including your personal chef in the dear Raff.  Then again.. you are quite the culinary specficialist yourself.. oh yeah...  my tummy growls at the thought of judging a cook off between you two. In fact .. there we go.. first show right there...  hosted live from Raff's kitchen.. the battle of the prog chef's.. with prog rock musical interludes and perhaps a few women I induce to take their tops off with offers of helping me judge the contest.

oh yes.. my show will rule...

Might be better anyway, if you're somewhere on the other side of the world, to listen to this program at night, which I recommend.  (If you listen live in Europe, eg., its sometime in the morning, I think.)

listening now and thanks for the heads up... clicked on the 26th Oct Late Form and after listening for a few minutes I was like... what the f**k man...  Reggae... hey I can dig that and a big fat joint... but not what I was expecting to hear.

Yeah, I know its confusing--Late Night Free Form and regular Free Form are on the same night.  Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks for the compliments!

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have another prog-related show this year (I'm going to be gone from Santa Fe this winter). But its interesting that you should mention Reggae--Looks like I'm going to be subbing in for "Soul Notes" this Friday at 8 PM.   Yeah, so I'm a white dude who knows not much about R&B subbing for the regular host Ijah (this man is totally Soul/blues and been doing it for years)    go figure.....

However, along with the theme/genre of Soul/blues/R&B/reggae that Soul Notes is supposed to be, I always like to throw in a little Jazz Rock/Fusion!
