PETER GREEN --- IN THE SKIES

After a long pause in Peter Green’s discography, the famous english

blues-rock guitar player comes back at the end of the 70’s with this

solid & inspired blues-rock opus.

It’ll be the last good one as next albums (at least from the early

80’s) are just good to keep the birds away if you own, say, a fruiting

cherry tree (i’m talking CDs of course).

Coming back to this record, the first eponym piece has this spacey mood

suggested by the album cover and is not too altered by Green’s limited

vocal capacities. Other highlights: "Slabo Day (an impressive

instrumental with a powerful rhythmic section and blazing guitar

parts), "A Fool No More" is an haunting blues, “just for you” a funky

tune with a huge rhythmic section.

Cherry on the cake: ultra slick production resulting in a superb

sounding record...

All in all, a must in Green’s discography!

Had it when it came out. Marvellous album. Latino bluesy style. He does so well writing playing and singing. QUite refreshing until he had another breakdown and then got himself going with a lot of help from Cozy Powell.

I'm just surprised I've not seen it available.

If it was reviewed here it would get two stars with the only prog interest being the presence of Snowy White. (This being the "guidelines" of album review ratings on this site...
