So for College Radio Day [November 4th], my show is airing a "Dead Prog Society" special where I'm exclusively playing music from prog bands with dead members.

One problem: I can't come up with a ton off the top of my head, and the only newer bands I could think of with a dead member is Riverside and Shadow Gallery.

Because of this massive lapse of thought, I'd like to enlist the help of members here in assisting me in creating a list of deceased prog musicians. Just shout out names of dead prog musicians below (freshly or otherwise) and I'll compile it here:

Yes - Chris Squire & Peter Banks
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Kieth Emerson
Pink Floyd - Richard Wright & Syd Barrett
Frank Zappa
Henry Cow - Lyndsey Cooper
Gong - Daevid Allen
Tangerine Dream - Edgar Froese
Samla Mammas Manna - Lars Hollmer
Soft Machine - Hugh Hopper, Kevin Ayers, Elton Dean
Atomic Rooster - Vincent Crane, John Du Cann, Paul Hammond
Hawkwind - Bob Calvert & Lemmy
Jethro Tull - John Glasscock, Glenn Cornick
Renaissance - Michael Dunford & John Tout
Rush - John Rutsey
Triumvirat - Helmut Koellen
Libra - Federico D'Andrea
Passport - Kristian Schultze
Dzyan - Eddy Marron
Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso - Francesco Di Giacomo
Riverside - Piotr Grudzinski
Shadow Gallery - Mike Baker
Crimson Glory - Midnight

Genesis - John Mayhew
Threshold - Andrew McDermott
Nektar - Roye Albrighton
BJH - Wooly Wolstenholme
Sky - Steve Gray, Kevin Peek
Captain Beyond - Larry Reinhardt & Lee Dorman
Quatermass - John Gustafson
Procol Harum - B.J. Wilson
FM - Nash The Slash
Jade Warrior - Tony Duhig
Can - Michael Karoli
Amon Düül II - Lothar Meid
Deep Purple - Jon Lord
Gentle Giant - Martin Smith
Traffic - Chris Wood & Jim Capaldi
Kayak - Pim Koopman
Supersister - Sacha Van Geest
Uriah Heep - David Byron & Gary Thain
Area - Demetrio Stratos
Aphrodite's Child - Demis Roussos
Pentangle - Bert Jansch & John Renbourn

Brand X - Morris Pert
Oregon - Colin Wolcott

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Paul O'Neill
Kaipa - Mats Löfgren

NOTE: The special will air on 90.3 WMSC at a shortened timeslot of 2:00am - 3:00am EST, so I'll be forced to only focus on the newly dead (last 5 years or so) within that hour...but I'll still maintain this list for the hell of it.

Definitely have a song from Piper play. You've got a wide array to choose from but I think "Astronomy Domine", "Pow R. Toc H." or "Interstellar Overdrive" would be particularly good choices.

OH BOY.

I'm afraid what this special would be like if I do it again 5 years from now:

Whelp, I got the time-slot for it and it seems this special's been shortened to an hour: November 4th from 2am - 3am EST.

Guess I gotta focus on the "freshly dead."

Oh, Lordy Lordy how this list was shocking to read, especially Pim Koopman. Oh why, oh why did you have to take my Pim away from us (and Albrighton, Hopper, Dean, Dunford, Tout, Di Giacomo, and Gustafson)?

As for newer bands(as in post seventies)how about Magellan? Both Gardner brothers died in the past few years(Trent as recently as June of 2016). I thought it was interesting that you mentioned Shadow Gallery and not them since they were both Magna Carta bands.
