Wow! Thanks Olivia and now I wished I had rated it higher.
She's too cute no? I still wished she had sung on this album as I think it would have only made it better with less of the focus on the instrumental work that was a little samey(sorry) at times.
I'm sure my face was red as I watched that.
Mick, I can do a video for you while reading one of your reviews in a sexy accent.

I'm surprised John you didn't interpret it as a concept album, even though you mentioned it was in the review. I thought you knew.
Synemotion is actually one song of 32:21 minutes which would put it somewhere in between Brian Eno's Discreet Music (31:34) and Magma's Kohntarkosz (31:17)
but because I wanted my songs to be played on the radio I cut it into pieces. (said with a Greek accent ;)

I feel like I need to edit my review now. I didn't actually feel that the songs were samey as much as some of the drumming and riffs were. Also saying I felt "ripped off" was too strong, disappointed would be more accurate but then you obviously wanted this concept album to be instrumental for a reason.
I really do hope to hear you sing on your next album though 'cause when I say I like Anneke and Sharon's vocals I mean both are probably in my top three of female singers, I just love their tone.
Also what was the significance of the picture of you lying on the bed topless on the inside of the album cover?

The album art was created by a collage artist, the inside cover is taken from Paul Delvaux painting 'La Venus Endormie' (Sleeping Venus) (1944) http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/paul-delvaux-994" rel="nofollow - http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/paul-delvaux-994
The significance and the reason it was used was because Delvaux explained:
"that it was painted in Brussels during the German wartime occupation and while the city was being bombed. ‘The psychology of that moment was very exceptional, full of drama and anguish’, he recalled. ‘I wanted to express this anguish in the picture, contrasted with the calm of the Venus’
I hoped to express as is said in the song Synemotion, that through all the emotional states we pass through - there is a calm place within us where we can retreat
and as the final words of Synemotion express:
"It is the shock of unwelcome emotions that blows us away and damages us;
leaving us permanently wounded and guaranteeing our unfortunate
lifestyles.
But those who walk through life with wounds that hurt at the slightest
touch and are not bothered by their ugliness, not bothered by the pain
remembered and not worried of how many more scars will disfigure them,
are the ones who are released, freed to feel again and experience even
more.
And with the next wave, what was once a torrent of unbearable emotion,
becomes a colorful, complex and more compelling palette of moods and
feelings, gifting us the ability to create and combine, not only a
synesthesia of the senses but also the feelings – Synemotion"

Hah I sort of got out because I sucked and never got a video thanks.. and was eventually eclipsed by my wife as a reviewer. Thus forever earning the moniker 'oh.. you are Raff's husband' at prog festivals and shows.
really cool of you to thank John though like that. Some serious style points and even a few McClappies.
Reviewing is not an easy task.. nor particularly rewarding at times. Great of you to show the thanks that way.

When Pandora opened the box she released every imaginable evil into the world, but she closed the lid in time and 'Hope' was left inside, hope was not
lost, but neither was it available
Maybe it is time, to let 'Hope' out

Great job interacting with the reviewers here, Olivia. It makes me happy knowing that some our opinions do indeed reach the artists and actually create some form of credibility sometimes.

aglasshouse :), I believe the reviews on Progarchives are very important to artists. You are the dedicated progressive rock listeners, who would know more about this genre of music but everyone here?... who come together in the forums to discuss for years.
I suppose and from my experience an artist may feel intimidated to say thank you
First, because it may seem like self-promotion Second, musicians express more in music than words and are a super sensitive bunch that even one word can shatter LOL

Yes that's very true. Many musicians are annoyingly sensitive because they, like poets, don't use the same form of universal language (instead you create your own) and would find an experience such as conversing with critics a bit jarring.
I am very impressed with your willingness to reach out to someone who criticizes your music and thank them first hand in their natural habitat. It really does speak for your personality and I commend your awesome nature. I wish you luck for the future of your career.
