Post what you're listening to at the moment. You should already know what to do by now.
Seems like it's a tradition to kick off the thread with a Soft Machine album.. Even though I haven't had the chance to know Febus I wouldn't skip an opportunity to listen to a Soft Machine album
I'm gonna start it off with my favorite of the Softs

Oh, Sam, if only that album was instrumental, or had vocals that weren't pained, flat amd weezy.... Sadly, I find it all but unlistenable because of not liking Wyatt's vocals on that one.
I know I'm in a minority not enjoying it, but thank goodness the music is cool, though.

^ I don't like the vocals either, but the rest is quite good I still find easier to tolerate his vocals than Peter Hammill's

Hmmm, now there's a question I've never asked myself - who's voice can I put up with more, Robert Wyatt or Peter Hammill?!
I definitely prefered Soft Machine when they ditched the vocals, although I agree with you that the rest is really good, very imaginative and daring psych rock.
Wyatt (vocally) is definitely a struggle for me a lot of the time. I can bear him a little more on Matching Mole, but I don't like his appearance on the first Hatfield and the North album, and it's stopped me looking into his solo works. I've never even heard `Rock Bottom', which is meant to be a Canterbury classic, because I don't want to hear more of his vocals.
A bloody impressive drummer, though!

| That sounds like fun, it's for the Wii or the Wii U? I have a Wii but I admit I never played much, the battery problem keeps me from playing it occasionally... "should I charge the batteries or play the SNES right now?", it's always the SNES

That game was on the Wii U, Sam. It's good, but it takes a little while to get used to beacuse (gasp!) Toad can't jump in it! A Mario-related platformer WITHOUT jumping?! Pretty blasphemous if you ask me!

Sensational, Steve!
Her albums were so important to me years ago! They still are, probably up to the third one `Daybreaker'. I did recently pick up the vinyl of `Sugaring Station', but some of the magic had died a little for me. I guess I maybe associate her with a particular time, place and people in my life from many years ago.
I especially love `Trailer Park', a nice mix of chilled electronica with folky backings. Clearly the electronic element came from William Orbit, because she's spent the rest of her career more or less moving as far from that sound as possible and completely embracing the folk/jazz/country styles instead.
But wow, what a beautiful, wounded voice.
Thanks for posting those, mate, made my day!

I have recently gotten around to listening Neurosis for the first time in years, they're not a band I'm in the mood for very often even though I quite like their music. Anyway, I think this is the album that most "sums up" what the group is all about: There's both the heavy trudging "sludge metal made transcendental" stuff they became famous for, and the weird folky psychedelic experimentation they would go on to afterwards combined.
I actually think I can take the latter more on this record, since it's balanced what I'm here for in the first place.

I'm starting to think these guys do Neurosis' folky psychedelic side wayyy better than Neurosis themselves, though the comparison is not that apt since Inter Arma have a lot of black metal influence in the higher screamed vocals and their faster riffs.
