Pilgrim, their second studio release starts veering towards their "prog epic sound" on more than a few of the album's tracks. Still Blues Rock but progressing. What's your take on Pilgrim?

Pilgrim for me took WA to another level. It was the metamorphosis album, blues, rock, prog. I prefer this in many respects to the classic Argus

Vas Dis ?!! I love this album a lot - my true fave is the debut though.
There is some knock-out playing on Pilgrimage, some mellow moments, and the, truth be known, overlong Where Were You Tomorrow, but I never skip any track.
Mart's bass work is SUPERB. I'm sure he's playing a Ricky......

Not one of my favourites I'm afraid. Valediction is the standout song for me, whilst Jailbait is a great rocker, but the rest of the album doesn't do a lot for me. I think it was a mistake to put the 10 minutes live track on the end.

Oh, and it's "Pilgrimage", by the way Wink

Pilgrimage

The first WA album I ever bought.
Great tracks include Vas Dis, The Pilgrim, Jailbait, Valediction, Alone and Lullabye....hell, that's 5 out of the 6! The long, live "Where Were You Tomorrow' really was a terrible mistake. Surely they must have had something better than that in the can to finish off the album.....if only they ended it with "Roads of Day To Day" from their first recording session. That ending would have made Pilgrimage a 5 star album.

An evolutionary step for the band, I like much of it.

This is so true. Ditching Where Were You Tomorrow and replacing it with Roads Of Day To Day would've made this 5 stars, easily. Neck-a-Neck with the debut. Argus, a strong 4 stars for me.
