I have noticed you can par any actor up against Gary Oldman and he will win the poll, he can even win against 3 god actors if they are in the same poll.. in my polls he have beaten Jeff Goldbum, and over the thresome of Raiph Finnes, Jermy Irons and Liam Neason, he is very respected actor, probably the most respected actor of them all in todays buisness, he can do classic trained acting, method acting, adn everything in-between, but can he win over everyone else,... -------------

For me it depends on older guys or the newer ones.....imho George C Scott, De Niro, Hoffman, Pacino were some of the best with huge range of abilities...every bit if not better than Oldman....these days I don't know...but Cumberbatch and Fassbender and Daniel Lewis are awful damn good as well as a few others. ------------- One does nothing yet nothing is left undone. | Gary Oldman is good, but my favorite actors are Skip Homeier, William Windom, and William Smithers. You are probably thinking "who?"-All played famous roles as guest actors in the original Star Trek series. Homeier played "Dr. Sevrin" and "Deputy Fuhrer Melokon", Windom was "Commodore Matt Decker" and Smithers was "Captain R. M. Merrick". They have done many other roles, but these stand out for me. |

I actually have no idea who my favorite actor is. I do know quite a few and it always motivates me to see these oscar-bait movies when there's some great talent behind them. Gary Oldman is a great actor but usually plays supporting roles. His character in Batman is one of the few times he plays a good guy (that I have seen). He's the bad guy in The Professional (already mentioned) but also in Air Force One, The Fifth Element, The Book Of Eli to name a few. He plays an hilarious character in dire need of a chapstick in an older movie called Nobody's Baby.

Also plays the 'good guy' George Smiley in the movie based on the very 'grey' espionage thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Was brilliant but Alec Guinness did a much better job. Also looked more like Smiley with that tubby tummy.

I bought three or four movies the day I bought Tinker Tailor. I couldn't get into it and put on one of my other purchases. I meant to get back to it but never did. I should do that in the next day or two.
