This project was first introduced to us by Angelo back in August 2009: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=60141.

AhmShere is a progressive symphonic rock band (their words!) from South Holland formed in 2006 by keyboard player Rien Fierst and guitarist Marco de Neijs - initially as a four piece without a vocalist. Marco had already teamed up with drummer Paul van der Zwaai (Triangle) and after a while Rich Huijbens, who at the time was the bass player of Dutch prog Metal band Incidense, joined on bass. The band went through several line-up changes at the end of 2011 however, with Paul and Rich deciding to quit, and stabilised again as a five piece in March 2012 with Senne Bergsma on drums, Frans Ellinger on bass and Chris Henny on vocals and second guitar.

The self-produced debut CD "Mindless Trust" was released in January 2013 and was well received. AhmShere received positive reviews from Progwereld, BackGround Magazine, Zware Metalen (Belgium) and Caja de Pandora (Spain). There has also been well received airplay on radio station RTV Purmerend, and the Jawdy's Basement prog rock show (New Jersey).

1. Falling Of The Edge (6:29)
2. Momentum (6:58)
3. Counter Attack (8:51)
4. Mindless Trust (7:36)
5. Apollo & Daphne (8:54)
6. A Dark Soul (9:07)
7. Balance (6:19)
8. Stronger Than Before (9:42)

Total Time 63:56

Initial stable line-up:

- Marco de Neijs / guitar
- Rien Fierst /  keys and vocals
- Frans Ellinger / bass
- Senne Bergsma / drums
- Chris Henny / vocals, second guitar

In October 20013 guitarist Marco decided to leave the band due to time constraints, and it appeared that the band would fold - however the four remaining members have decided to continue without him.

Influences: Dream Theater, Frank Zappa, Al DiMeola, Gino Vanelli, Chick Corea, Herby Hancock, Opeth, Trans Atlantic, Spock's Beard, Flower Kings, Genesis, Yes.

AhmShere is a creative and productive band, and is currently working hard on the 2nd CD.

This is good stuff...On the Symph/Neo border to my ears, and well worthy of a place in the archives. Approve

Edit: Samples sent to Iván (Symphonic team) for his opinion.

Thanks Keishiro!  Thumbs Up

The evaluation can be followed here: http://progfreak.com/Armshere-158509.html?path=pa/recent.

Note: There is a typo in the progfreak entry where an 'r' has been entered instead of an 'h'. Mike can fix this for us though if we let him know about it via p.m.  Embarrassed
