They're pretty similar to Opeth, but I'm not really sure whether you guys would consider them prog or just melodic death/doom.

Does this answer your question?

HomepagefiInsomnium Prog Metal Chart: Rejected

It was about four years ago, and all members of the Prog Metal team who were involved in the evaluation have since retired, but the result was pretty conclusive don't you think? LOL

Of course, there has been at least one other album released since all this happened - 2011's 'One For Sorrow', and the whole thing is up on YouTube:

The last evaluation may well have taken place before 2009's 'Across The Dark' too - and would you believe it - that one is up on the Tube too!

I'd be surprised if either of these albums was considered to be anything other than Melodic Death Metal by the current Prog Metal team to be honest... Ermm  But we'll see...! Tongue

No worries at all! There wasn't anything revealed for this band from a search on the progarchives site itself - the chart you are looking at above came from progfreak.com, which is the site the team use to keep track of the votes that have been cast, and collate all the bands/artists at each of the various stages of the evaluation process. The band was most likely added to progfreak for evaluation by a member of the Prog Metal team of the day without them simultaneously making a post in the progarchives public forum (since it is not necessary for a collab or prog reviewer to do this). Some guys prefer to operate this way, behind closed doors so to speak - others (myself included) like to air any potential new additions they may stumble upon in the public forums too: a) to give as many people as possible the opportunity to express their opinions, and b) to give the band/artist some exposure, since these threads in the progarchives public forums feature very prominently in google searches. Smile

Not really hearing much prog on those two recent albums. Lay of the Autumn (from Across the Dark) comes close but they've already done 10-minute epics on their earlier albums - In the Groves of Death, In the Halls of Waiting, etc. Great stuff mind you, thanks for the suggestion! Thumbs Up
