Hi everybody!

I started listenig to progressive rock about eight years ago. My father bought me "Calling All Stations" by Genesis (knowing how much I liked this "Congo" song). I liked it quite a lot and decided to explore further. Listening to "Selling England By The Pound" was a breaking moment. Genesis opened my mind to other musical styles outside of this crap that is usually presented on TV and radio and since then my love for music grew. I'm only 21 now so my knowledge isn't probably big but I try to explore more and more as often as I can.

I found this site by accident and quickly realised I like many of the bands presented here. This place is really a great source of knowledge about music and it's nice to see that it's still developing.

However I must admit right from the start that I don't particurarly care for the term 'prog'. I think music can be divided only into two sub-categories: music that you like and music that you don't. I personally like the music that carries emotions, pushes you to think, is atmospheric and unconventional.

Music I usually listen to (in no particular order):

-Pink Floyd (plus Roger Waters' and Rick Wright's solo stuff)

-Genesis (everything from 1970-80 era)

-Peter Gabriel (favourites: Passion, Us, Ovo, Up)

-Yes (only 1968-80)

-King Crimson

-Van Der Graaf Generator

-Jethro Tull

-Emerson, Lake & Palmer

-Mike Oldfield (Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations, Songs Of The Distant Earth)

-Marillion

-Camel

-Kate Bush

-Tool/A Perfect Circle

-Porcupine Tree/No-Man/Blackfield

-Talk Talk

-Radiohead

-David Sylvian

-The Cure

-Nine Inch Nails

-The Mars Volta

-Sigur Ros

-Godspeed You Black Emperor!

-Mogwai

-Archive

-Faith No More/Mr. Bungle/Tomahawk

-Rush

-U2

-Alice In Chains/Mad Season

-Anathema

-Opeth

-System Of A Down

-Tori Amos

-Bjork

-Sade

-Talking Heads

-Black Sabbath

-Led Zeppelin/Page & Plant

-The Doors

and more...

P.S. I hope you'll forgive me my crappy English.
