False Prophet - another revival from way back?

I thought this band deserved a hearing on here after inadvertently stumbling upon one of their videos on YouTube today. I'll start with the bio which features on quite a few sites which mention them (I actually copied this from lastfm: http://www.last.fm/music/False+Prophet+UK/+wiki) 
False Prophet - Biography            
… Progressive Rock with an operatic twist:) 

Biography: In the early spring of 1978 a group of people got together to form a band that eventually became the near legendary, if somewhat apocryphal, False Prophet. False Prophet was, without much doubt, ahead of its time. Pompous, progressive, heavy, addled, complex to the point of insanity, were all descriptions coined at various times. Most of these descriptions had some basis in fact. But, however it was described, most people agreed - the music had validity. Numerous people were involved at various times, but the nucleus throughout most incarnations remained Mark Drozdz (guitars), Paul Chapman (guitars/keyboards), Nicky Coward (bass), and Kevin Neaves (drums). Precious few recordings remain from the band’s heyday, and it seemed for years that the apocryphal status would become permanent - a mere memory in the minds of the devoted and deluded. And then, in 2009, fate intervened. Mark, Paul and Nicky, although living in different parts of the world, became re-united via the wonders of electrons and the interweb. It was suggested that it might be fun to “properly” record one or two of the old songs – or at least as “properly” as the thousands of miles separating the protagonists would allow. With Nick now taking up the reins as lead vocalist, those “few songs” are now a full album of interesting, perhaps iconic, music. Listen. It might just change your life.

This next one is actually a cover of a song from David Coverdale's "Northwinds" album, but what the hell....!

There is a fairly high element of plain good old fashioned hard rock in this music, but hopefully enough variation and smatterings of prog thrown in as well to get them an audition on here (the track "Fantasy World" has just the faintest hints of another song from that era - UK's superb "In The Dead Of Night", in certain passages, and is probably my favourite on the album).

	Sorry to bump this one after only four days, but it had only 20 views and not a single reply. I must say thought it had a reasonable chance in crossover. If it's considered too mainstream for this site then fair enough, but the guys are recording new stuff at the moment, and it seems a shame that they have gone more-or less un-noticed over all these years. 	Hmm... I honestly can't say I hear anything progressive in this music. It sounds like latter-day Zeppelin mixed with 80's Yes hard rock. It has a prog edge, but it's not very defined at all.

	^ I quite agree with you that it's a somewhat of a borderline case, but being as it appeared to have been hidden away for so long, I thought it deserved an airing on here at least. The guys in the band claim to be a prog act, but peoples' interpretation of what is and isn't prog varies quite a bit. I wasn't sure how they'd go down on here at all, but I found it to be an enjoyable album nevertheless, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

	Sounds like classic hard rock / heavy metal with some progressive qualities indeed, but less of them when compared to '70s Deep Purple or Rainbow in my opinion.
