A few years back (2007) prog reviewer andrea started a topic for the Italian band Layra: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=44745&KW=layra&PID=2725680#2725680
There were several fairly positive responses at the time and the band's lead singer, Moreno (aka "Pride" on here), joined in the discussion. Logan, Dean, Angelo & Finnforest (who added the band to Progfreak.com) all contributed, and although they were rejected for RPI in 2007, it was suggested that they may be suitable for eclectic or crossover. Their first album, "Chiaroscuro" didn't actually get released until November 2008, so I am wondering what material was actually used to evaluate the band, & the topic eventually fizzled out completely in 2009.

The band were very new back then, and their first album wasn't very well publicised at all, it seems. However they have recently released a follow up called "Crono", and it is a superb album! This most definitely merits the band's inclusion here as far as I am concerned, and I urge everyone to check it out asap!!
The band have 15 videos on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/LayraProg#p/u which include a few live performances of tracks from Crono, plus some older material, and here is a short version the title track:

The new album is quite varied, but excellent throughout. The band's website http://www.layra.it is still under construction, even though it was mentioned in the topic back in 2007, and only one of the band's youtube videos (the one above) has had more than 500 hits. This band is seriously in need of some exposure, but based on the quality of their new album, that shouldn't be long coming.

For anyone who can read Italian: http://www.facebook.com/LayraProg

They also have a myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/layrasproject, but it looks pretty disused to me (last log in 17th October last year)

Cool music! Smile I think they would sand a fair chance in Crossover, and I will forward the suggestion to the team.
