I did this again because I stupidly missed including Funkadelic's 1970 album Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow before.
Two George Clinton led acts with three P-Funk albums in total and two Reginald Dwight albums. I don't want you to just vote for whole albums, rather highlight
particular tracks of albums you vote for in a post. Poll results do
not matter, it's what pieces you highlight and what you have to say that matters
(please provide youtube tracks if available to go with your choice so that all can listen who may not be familiar with the music -- that's the primary point of this topic, exposure, as is common with polls of mine).
I like all of these, but wish to highlight Osmium music partially because I don't think it's that well known here, and I think music from it quite excellent. I won't vote this time because that second Funkadelic album is so good and I want to revisit it.
Hopefully
people will discover some good music here, which, again, is why I ask people not
to just vote, but talk. about your favourite pieces off the
album you voted for and maybe ones you didn't vote for (and provide clips if available so that others can hear the tracks
-- I hope people will comment on those -- like or dislike). I hope
others will take the time to listen to those clips if they are
unfamiliar with them, and I hope some discussion will develop out of
this -- I hope people will take the time to both listen to and comment on other people's choices rather than just posting their own "song" choices.
I was think about posting my favourite pieces
from each album, and perhaps having people only vote from those
particular songs, but decided just to post ones from my album choice and
let others post music for their choices.
By the way, this was inspired by a Pablo Funkadelic vs. Parliament poll from some time ago and Aginor's recent Elton John topic.

I'm a huge Parliament and Funkadelic listener!! My first album was in 1977 Parliament Funkentelechy vs The Placebo Syndrome.....from there it grew to almost evrything including back catalog. I won't post more songs as you have the ones I like above.
I remember my first Parliament concert in '78-79 (can't remember..) freaking amazing!! My mind was blown away with the brilliance of George Clinton on stage!
I never got into Elton John enough to post something intelligent....sorry my bad

well i could provide some videos of Elton John album, the song the Great Discovery is wonderfull and it is a wonderfull live recordings of it in the 80s

Thanks, I do like it, but I wouldn't call it chamber rock, it's more orchestral or symphonic pop, or more like a pop song with an orchestra backing it up actually. With chamber rock, and chamber music more generally, I think of a quite small ensemble playing "art music" with each player playing often a different instrument, and with each musician playing a different part, and with each one playing an important role (often of equal importance). It's the kind of music that can be played in very small venues (chambers), whereas that is a big production with an orchestra involved.
This is what got me into chamber music, by the way:

I like Funkadelic more on the whole, but do like Parliament considerably too. With Parliament I suggest starting with Mothership Connection as it's their biggest classic (actually what got me into P-Funk) and I agree with Abstrakt on his choices. Maggot Brain is terrific. I think I return to Cosmic Slop the most. It depends what you're looking for though.

I voted for the selftitled Funkadelic, because I really want to highlight the opening track called Mommy, What's a Funkadelic? Just like the opening cut of Maggot Brain this one is a rather long one too - with great wobbly sweaty psych moods incorporated. I just love funky music - especially the old school type. I think it was Sly and the Family Stone that originally turned me onto soul music with a "rock-twist". I still dig their early records as well.

that is the concert version, the studio version is more in what you are describing as chamber, or the tune is probably more related to baroque pop, it was just how the arangement and aural vission of the tune which gives it a spessial sound, i like all the harpishchord and harp lead songs by Elton John as you have showed 60 Years On is really good, the liveversion from the same concert as the one i showed you have that cute oboe melodie at the third verse which adds that spessial neuance to the still very powerfull piece
have you heard the harpishchrod version of Skyline Pidgeon, i love how gently it builds on in dynamics and slowly adds a swirling hammond organ chords in the background on the second round of the song
reminds me of a classical era melody, Mozart like melodie,

this song is also quite interesting song and I would say it remesent Talk to the Wind type of music KC was releaseing the same year, british/celtic folk inspired mixed with blues

Great to hear that version of Skyline Pigeon (my first time). Thanks. My wife introduced me to the song. Skyline Pigeon is one of her absolute favourite songs, and it was one of those that we could both enjoy muchly (I really like it). Back then I was only really into Tiny Dancer and Funeral for a Friend by Elton John. Seeing Breaking the Waves with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road used as an inter-title (knew the album as a kid) also helped to get more into Elton John. So many films have affected my listening habits.
My favourite of the ones you posted is Hymn 2000, which I have heard before. Very nice.
