Greetings proggers,
Today I was listening to Steve Hackett's Timeline Live and a track came on titled "Depth Charge".  It's a fun tune and sort of like Genesis. After the Hackett the cd, I put on Wishbone Ash Live Timeline and I heard a track titled "In the Skin". About 1 minute and 4 seconds into the tune, it becomes Steve Hackett's "Depth Charge". Is this the same song or what? Can you please tell me if you think it is? It sounds as if it has the same melody, same beat, and chord progression. What do you think? Who does the song belong to?

Haven't got Hackett's Time Lapse, so I have only heard In The Skin. Nouveau Calls predates Hackett by some time and apparently Turner wrote it in the early 80s when he was in Wolfgang  - listening to it now it sounds very familar -almost Jeff Beck like. I'm wondering if this is an even older tune "borrowed" by both of them.

What?

I wish you could sit down and observe both versions as I have. It truly baffles me. I realize that this is a bit silly to ponder over, but it's that curiosity of it all which drives me to wonder. If you ever get the chance or have the time, please ask someone who you know owns both live cd's to sample them one day. I would appreciate it.

Yes I was thinking the same thing, both tracks are almost the same.
