Helping you rescue precious nuggets of Prog-gold before they get swept away in the tide of 2010's passing Proggie-pyrite...

This New Year's Eve, 12/31/2010, ProgPositivity counts down our Top 20 Album Recommendations for 2010!

The Predicament:  A Plethora of Prog Productions

Another year has come and almost gone and who knows how many truly great prog CD's may have flown under our radar! These are the prolific days in which even certified prog-fanatics can't possibly sort through 100% of the new releases.  The ProgPositivity staff does, however, receive a steady stream of promo CD's to review for airplay each week throughout the year. (Although the quantity of new releases received is far from exhaustIVE, it is certainly sufficient to seem exhaustING to our Music Director from time to time I'm sure!...)

Some of these albums "make the grade" and receive airplay while others either a) are very professional (yet don't quite serve our format's listeners) or b) are very well suited stylistically but (in our subjective and admittedly biased and imperfect appraisal) don't quite measure up to our quality standards...

The Plan:  At ProgPositivity, our pain is YOUR gain!

All day, this New Year's Eve, 12/31/2010, ProgPositivity counts down our Top 20 Album Recommendations for 2010!

To listen, simply drop by http://www.progpositivity.com and click on the link "Listen Now".

From the seemingly self-replentishing stack of new releases, a select few stand out as "the best of the best"... albums of note, new album releases worthy of our highest recommendation. Since no two ProgPos staff members can be expected to fully agree on too much of anything, much less the order for best albums of 2010, a weighting algorithm assures that the actual *order* in which these Top Albums is listed fully pleases none of us!

We hope it can be equally as non-pleasing to you as you compare it to your own "best of" scorecard at home! ;-)

The Program:  No matter what time of the day or night you "tune in" on 12/31/2010, you'll hear the countdown!

For your ultimate New Year's convenience, once we reach the #1 ProgPos album for 2010, we will start back over at #20 albums and count them down again!...  To keep things interesting, each time we "cycle through" the top 20 countdown, we will play a different track from each featured album!

Albums you won't hear on the Top 20 Countdown:

As always, there are way more than 20 great albums in a year... Man - I love some of these albums that didn't make the top 20... Raga Bop Trio, Delusion Squared and Bill Lubera in particular...  I really need to brush up on my Prog-Political skills.  ;-)
