Topic: Your Favourite Tribute Song Posted: June 07 2010 at 17:24 |
What is your favourite tribute song? It can be an original song, or a cover of another song, from any kind of music, and a tribute for just about anyone or anything. I would not recommend quoting lyrics directly, as sometimes there are copyright issues.
My favourite is "We All Thought We Knew You', from the album "Increase" by german progressive rock group Birth Control. It was written in memory of the then recently deceased musician-singer-songwriter Helmut Koellen, who was most known as a member of Triumvirat and Jail, and then with his solo album, released posthumously in 1977. We All Thought We Knew You's lyrics deal with what was a delicate and painfull issue in a thoughtfull and sensitive way-it really is special, for anybody who knew Helmut Koellen either personally, or as a musical artist-man, i am really glad this song was realised
