Don't listen to them that much anymore, but when i sometimes do i still think they did some very nice albums, up to the point where Waters left. Never got into those only Gilmore albums.

Mostly Autumn are one of my favourite Prog-Rock bands and one of the best music DVD's I've seen was their "Pink Floyd Revisited" concert. Smile

Getting sick of them? Never.
Do I listen to their music as often as I used to? No, but it's still fun and good to listen to them still. Big smile

There simply is no more influential group on this site... other than the Beatles of course haha.

I was into PF for a long time, but when the next album after DSOTM, was an album that basically had the same format as DSOTM, my tastes kinda went down hill. I still listened and loved the music and THE WALL ended it all for me, because the original cut of the film had 15 to 20 more minutes, almost all of which became THE FINAL CUT, not to mention the story of the family during the war, is re-written in different detail in that later album!

My feeling was that a third LP would be disastrous for the band, and the record company was going insane already with a double album, at a time when it was so obvious they were trying to get less from musicians and make more from them ... when the greed, really was taking over ... it has started when the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin signed for hundreds of millions ... and it was now visible that so many new bands, were dumped and the folks on the outside -- THE FANS -- were not privy to those manipulations of the public taste and sales. The main fact was that one album by LZ would make more money than their next 150 albums released in that month by the same record company.

The thing that folks state that they created so many of this and that ... might be true when you consider the stuff in the bootlegs, all the way to the day BEFORE DSOTM ... when the experiments and trippy stuff died in one swell foop!

But we forget one thing, and we continuously ignore it, and refuse to look at it ... EUROPE had been showing for some time some incredible artistry for music ... but we never EVER considered that they also influenced what PF was doing, specially all the keyboard stuff coming out of Germany ... and the rest of Europe ... and right away, in 1975 or 1976, I knew that PF was done in the "creating" new places and new thoughts, and bringing us "new music" ... the real fact was ... it was all over Europe and PF was no longer the first one or the best!

I'm not sick of PF, of Roger or Dave ... I'm sick of the fans that ruined the PF shows in DSOTM and later, that were there for anything but the music ... it was like many years before ... when you go to SF put flowers in your hair ... and the biggest array of sick and pathetic folks started showing up ... just like mice and rats do in many big cities! And I'm sick of the folks that sometimes post here thinking that the band went through some apocalyptic life and death ... when they are very grateful for their history and their work, despite the label and EMI bullpucky stuff!

But I get really turned off when stuff is said here, that makes it look like there was no history anywhere else in the world and that everyone was copying PF ... you really think that many of those German bands gave a damn? NO THEY DIDN'T ... and its the main reason why some of the "progressive folks" can't stand some of that free form stuff!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

If anything, I am amazed more and more by Waters' prescient commentary, particularly in these strange times that we live in.  The videos for In the Flesh 2 and Waiting for the Worms send shivers down my spine.
