I recently went to see the Groundhogs, Wishbone Ash, and Focus on tour together, it was a great Gig.
The Groundhogs were on first and unfortunately there sound was not good, i thought at first it was the hall, Tony played well enough, and it was good to hear some of those classic Groundhog tracks, he played stuff off "Split and Thank christ for the Bomb" which are both albums i like very much, the drummer did a long drum solo, great to see them after many years but i was a little disappointing by the sound quality it was a bit mushy. which is a real shame considering what great musicians were on stage, Tony McPhee-classic blues rock guitarist, Dave Anderson-Bass (X in search of Space) and Marco Anderson on Drums
Wishbone ash on the other hand sounded fantastic, they had that classic interchange with one guitarist had a Gibson ES and the other a Fender Strat, they were all great musicians and had practices well for the gig and again played all of there classic hits, in fine style. they were really tight.
Focus were the last band on, and played a blinder, there is only 1 origonal member left, the keyboard player and flautist, all the other musicians were superb and played all the classic Focus songs like they had recorded them all those years ago inn the late 60's and early 70's.
The young guitarist was note perfect on every solo, so had obviously practiced very hard to get as good as he was.
all together a Cracking GIG and a real treat for an old rocker like me...lol
