Essentially, the more reviews or ratings an album gets, the more likely it is to go up the chart. It's much more complex than that really, but it would need someone like Mike to really explain it.
The details of the weightings are in the FAQ's thread.

If that's what you mean... well... what's the big deal? ... Is not that the reviewer gets any benefit or the rating change that much because of that.... Actually, usually with the top albums your rating won't have too much weight as they have lots of reviews.... |
I moved Dun's Eros album up 2 slots the other day, that made me feel special - then some clown moved it up 9 spots a week later, that made me feel not so special.

Well, I think some peoples REAL votes are detered by the ratings of those two albums.
Or maybe I'm too much of a Yes head not to be disgusted that Yessongs is not in the top fifty, BLASPHEMY! |
Meh, I don't think compilations deserve to be in the top 50, I'm sure like many people I would prefer to see the top 50 to be just studio albums.

Well, Yessongs is a LIVE ALBUM, rather than a compilation, so that complaint isn't relevant in the slightest.
