Topic: i deleted my non prog "2 stars or less" r Posted: December 27 2006 at 00:43 |
yep: i deleted the non prog albums i rated 2 stars or less, in my RYM database.
i removed albums of alice in chains, pearl jam, eminem, chemical bros, britney spears et al.
those reviews were forced and it did not make them good: it also created anger from people who like them.
more than that: i changed my ok computer review so that it is less provocating for the reader.
i realize that we are in a community and that when you cough, you have to put your hand in front of your mouth!

i replaced them by a short paragraph on my profile page:
"rap, hip hop & alt. rock are not my cup of tea!"

I feel ashamed.
i respected you dearly dear Greenback, but your bowing down to general publics demand is like a stab in the back.
why do you scuffle your view in search of apraisal.
little quote from you:
i realize that we are in a community and that when you cough, you have to put your hand in front of your mouth!
Yes indeed you have to put your hand in front of your mouth when you cough, but when you state your opinion you should do that without hesitation as long as it is your honest opinion. Who cares about the recipiant, he can choose to ignore you, but he can only ignore you if you speak up, or better still he can only counter act you, or get in a discussion with you if you speak honestly.
Do not question your ideas only question your ideals.

stay reassured: i still do not like those artists...
on the other hand, i do it for myself: i do not think those reviews reflect some kind of professionalism: RYM is a mainstream domain, where everybody has access: so, one has to be careful about what will be the output: i chose a simpler and less shocking way to express what i do not like. i do it for myself: i hope it will help to improve my social skills.
i really want to be a better person.

I still love you, that's not the issue, just stay yourself, and deleting low ratings because of what the general public thinks makes you (((fill in what ever you want to fill in))). Stick to what you feel, and make your ratings reflect your honest feelings and thoughts. You can only make friends through such a medium, or help people through the maze music can be if you express both your positive as your negative feelings.
deleting negative thougths on an artist because some people like those artist, will only make those artist stronger for nobody opposes them, while really nobody likes them really.
be the voice in the crowd.
Scream till your lungs hurt,
but do not bow down to what other people think.
love you regardlesly, and I do no encourage low ratings, but real honest thoughts should not be kept inside.
and why do you want to be a better person, we all love you as you are, no extra effort required.
