The "genesissplit" is surely the 3 violins mixed with Mark II brass sounds to be able to play the "Watcher of the Skies" intro. If you listen to Museo Rosenbach "Zarathustra",you heard clearly that the mellotron sound have no brass.I'm pretty sure that Pit Corradi did 2 separate parts for the mellotron, one on the lower keys and one in the higher keys. But if you are refering on the main theme from "Zarathustra" there's definitely no brass involved in that sound, only 3 violins.Maybe i am making a mistake and the sound "genesissplit" are just a strings sound but I'm pretty sure it's 3 violins/Mark II brass split.
I don't know for the M-Tron but you can surely modify the pitch-bender on an original mellotron. The pitch-bender increase or decrease the speed of the motor so the pitch get lower when you decrease or higher when you increase the speed of the motor. If the M-Tron doesn't have that feature,well...that's a pretty big mistake and you will not be able to play a lot of song(Epitaph by King Crimson spring to mind and numerous others). The pitch bender is an important part of the mellotron features and contributes to it's charm.I am pretty sure that the M-Tron had this feature, otherwise IMHO it's not a valid mellotron replacement.

I am relieve
![]() For your controller,I am not an expert but a keyboard controller with knobs controlling the different parameters must exist. If you have the money, you should check the Manikin Memotron wich is a controller design to mimics the knobs of original mellotrons.Apparently, it's the closest feeling to playing with a real mellotron. The only downside is this Memotron is quite expensive but it works with M-Tron.This is their website:http://www.manikin-electronic.com/en/index.html Edited by pierreolivier - June 11 2006 at 17:56 |
